CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard softball looks to secure its third Ivy League series victory tomorrow, Apr. 9, as the Crimson welcome Dartmouth back to Soldiers Field for the series finale. The contest begins at 3:30 p.m. and will stream live on ESPN+.
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Harvard holds a 14-13 overall record this season and currently sits in fifth place in the Ivy League with a 5-6Â mark in conference play.
- In its last outing, the Crimson clinched a key series win in a rematch of the 2023 Ivy League Tournament Championships, as Harvard picked up two wins against Princeton.
- The series opened with a thrilling offensive display, as Harvard scored 13 unanswered runs to defeat Princeton, 14-6. The Crimson tallied new single-game season highs in runs scored and hits (18) in the series opening victory.
- Game two was another high-scoring contest, as Harvard outlasted Princeton, 8-7, to earn the series victory. Princeton took home the series finale, 6-5.
- As a team, Harvard posted a .409 batting average last weekend, outscoring Princeton, 27-19.
- Junior outfielder and team captain Savannah Fitzpatrick anchored the Crimson offense against the Tigers, as the Marengo, Ohio native logged a team-best six hits in 11 at-bats, driving in three runs as well.
- In the circle, first-year Nicolette Hunter provided two sensational performances out of the bullpen. Hunter posted a 1.17 earned run average, striking out seven batters over six innings of work while picking up two wins.
- First-Year infielder Sophie Sun is enjoying an incredible rookie campaign in Cambridge. Harvard's everyday shortstop leads the Ivy League in OPS with a mark of 1.197, while her .408 batting average.
- In her third season with the program, junior infielder Maya Douglas is orchestrating the best season of her collegiate career. Across 26 appearances, Douglas is posting career-highs in hits (22), RBIs (12), and slugging percentage (.507). A native of Charlotte, N.C., Douglas leads the conference in doubles with 10.
- The Crimson boast one of the best offenses in the Ivy League, leading the Ancient Eight in batting average (.291).
- In the circle, Harvard owns the best ERA in the Ivy League with a mark of 2.65, the only squad in the conference with a team-ERA below three.Â
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN:
- Dartmouth is 9-11 on the 2024 season. In Ivy League action, the Big Green holds the No. 3 position in the league standings with a conference mark of 5-3.
- In in its last series, Dartmouth posted two shutouts in a series win against Brown.
- Tomorrow's contest is the series finale between the Crimson and the Big Green. The two sides split a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 22, as the series finale was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
- The Crimson lead the all-time series, 73-27.
