Sailing Wins Eastern Semifinal, Advances to ICSA Open Fleet Race National Finals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University Sailing finished in first place in the 2024 Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open Fleet Race National Championship Semifinals in the Eastern side of the bracket on Saturday on the Charles River competing out of the MIT Sailing Pavilion.
 
With its top-nine finish in the Eastern semifinal, Harvard earned a spot in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Finals on Sunday and Monday with racing set to take place out of the Harvard Sailing Center.
 
In the Eastern side of the bracket, Harvard took first with 193 points, topping second-place Dartmouth (195 points), third-place Stanford (204), fourth-place Boston College (206), and 14 other programs in the 18-team field.
 
Harvard's A division entry tallied 118 points for third place in the division. Across 18 races, the Crimson notched seven top-three finishes, including wins in races five, 11, and 17. Lachlain McGranahan (races 1-4, 13-18) and Mitchell Callahan (5-12) represented Harvard as skippers in the division while Marbella Marlo (1-3, 5-8, 13-18), Mitchell Callahan (4), Aidan Pesce (9-10), and Alexandra Dorofeev (11-12) competed as crew.
 
The Crimson's B division entry registered 75 points for second place in the division. Over 18 races, Harvard recorded eight top-three finishes, including victories in races four, eight, nine, and 14. Justin Callahan (1-6, 13-16) and Robby Meek (7-12, 17-18) represented Harvard as skippers in the division while Kennedy Leehealey (1-2, 7-16), Aidan Pesce (3-6), and Alexandra Dorofeev (17-18) competed as crew.
 
In the Western side of the bracket – which completed 17 rotations – Roger Williams (164 points) claimed first place ahead of second-place Yale (186), third-place Brown (202), fourth-place U.S. Coast Guard (215), and 14 other programs in the 18-team field.
 
Next, Harvard will compete in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Finals from May 26-27.
