EUGENE, Ore. – Harvard track & field first-year
Sophia Gorriaran produced a stellar performance on the first day of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, as the Providence, R.I. native advanced to the 800m semifinals on the opening day of the competition.
A two-time All-American in the 800m, Gorriaran clinched a spot in the semifinals with a sixth-place finish in the third heat of the 800m first round. The 2024 Ivy League champion in the indoor 800m, Gorriaran posted a time 2:01.35 to qualify for the semifinals. Earlier this month at Hayward Field, Gorriaran took ninth place at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800m.
Along with Gorriaran, junior
Victoria Bossong also participated in the 800m at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. A 2024 second team All-America selection in the outdoor 800m, Bossong finished in 35
th place overall with a time of 2:04.99.
UP NEXT:
Gorriaran will run in the 800m semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Sunday, June 23. The race begins at 9:11 p.m. eastern standard time and will air live on Peacock.
