PARIS – Harvard track & field and cross country alumna
Lisa Tertsch '21 orchestrated an excellent performance in the triathlon mixed relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as she pushed Team Germany to a gold medal win. Joined by teammates Tim Hellwig, Laura Lindemann, and Lasse Luehrs, the gold medal win marks Germany's first gold medal in the triathlon mixed relay after the team finished sixth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Tertsch held the No. 2 position in Germany's relay squad, as she took over after Tim Hellwig posted a time of 20:06 in the opening leg of race. Stating with 300m of swimming, Tertsch finished the first portion of the race with a time of 4:58, continuing the race with a bike time of 10:47 over 7 km. Tertsch concluded her leg on a strong note, posting a time of 5:24 across 1.8 km of running, the top time in the field. A stellar finish from Laura Lindemann secured Germany' gold medal win.
Entering the competition, Germany took first place at the 2024 Triathlon World Championships in Hamburg, setting the table for their gold medal triumph.
