David Abrahams '24 returned to Paris La Defense Arena on Thursday and finished in fifth place in the 100-meter breaststroke – SB13 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
A 2020 Tokyo Games silver medalist in the event, Abrahams clinched his spot in the finals with a third-place performance (1:06.76) in Heat 2, which took place Thursday morning. Abrahams' time was the fifth fastest in the 16-athlete field, with eight moving onto the championship heat.
With a spot on the medal stand on the line, Abrahams posted a final time of 1:06.63, finishing behind gold-medal-winner Taliso Engel of Germany (1:01.90), Nurdaulet Zhumagali of Kazakhstan (1:04.83; silver), Vali Israfilov of Azerbaijan (1:05.35; bronze) and Firdavsbek Musabekov of Uzbekistan (1:05.70).
Abrahams, who served as a Team USA captain, finished his time in Paris with a sixth-place showing in the 200-meter individual medley – SM13 and today's fifth-place effort.
