CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving will head south to Providence, Rhode Island, to face Brown in a Friday matinee that is slated to begin at noon ET.
What to Know
- The Crimson is fresh off a 178-122 non-conference victory over Arizona last Friday in Tucson. Harvard took down a Wildcats team that was receiving votes in the CSCAA Top 25 Poll to improve to 4-0 on the season.
- Harvard's win over Arizona marked its first competition since Dec. 7, which was the fourth and final day of the Minnesota Invitational. It was also the Crimson's first dual meet since a 201-99 decision over Columbia on Nov. 22.
- David Schmitt did not miss a beat in his return to action in Tucson as he broke his own school record in the 200 butterfly. The sophomore won the event with a time of 1:41.25, which was better than his previous best of 1:42.17. Schmitt also won the 100 fly, finishing in 45.99, which was the third-best performance in school history.
- Anthony Rincon swept 100 and 200 back against the Wildcats, with his 100-back effort of 46.38 ranking third all-time at Harvard. Joshua Chen, meanwhile, posted the fourth-best 100-breast performance in school history (53.62) and the seventh-best 200-breast time (1:56.99). Chen also won both events in the desert.
- Other winners at Arizona included Adriano Arioti (200 IM; 1:47.89), Sonny Wang (50 free; 19.64), and Adam Wesson (1-meter diving; 347.70).
- The Crimson steps back into Ivy League action on Friday for the first time since Nov. 22, and will take a 3-0 conference record into its clash with Brown.
- Harvard is 89-2 all-time vs. Brown and has won 29 straight head-to-head matchups with the Bears. The Crimson has also won nine consecutive meets in Providence.
- The Crimson is looking to improve to 5-0 for the first time since 2022-23, when it completed the campaign at 7-0.
- Brown comes into the meet with a 3-3 record and a 2-3 mark against Ivy League competition. The Bears, however, are 2-0 at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center.
- Brown was last in action on Jan. 11, when it finished on the short end of a 165.50-134.50 decision at Columbia. Prior to the loss, the Bears were on a hot streak, having defeated Dartmouth, Penn and Bryant, and winning the Bruno Invite.
