CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Athletics finished the Fall 2024 campaign as the top-ranked school in the state of Massachusetts and New England region in the Learfield Directors' Cup fall standings, it was announced Thursday. The Crimson tallied 158 points to rank No. 32 in NCAA Division I.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships.
The Crimson secured points in the fall from field hockey, men's cross country and women's cross country. Harvard Field Hockey finished fifth nationally to collect 65 points for the athletics department, while men's cross country and women's cross country secured 93 total points after their 27
th- and 28
th-place performances, respectively.
Amongst its peers in the state and the region, Harvard led the way, with its next-closest competitor, Massachusetts, ranking 34
th (156 points). The top non-Massachusetts school was Providence at No. 43 (135).
The winter Division I Learfield Directors' Cup standings, meanwhile, will be updated and published in early April.
