CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football's Anthony Firkser '17 has secured a spot at Super Bowl LIX as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. The tight end will be the ninth former Crimson player to vie for the Vince Lombardi Trophy when his Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9, in New Orleans, La.
A three-time All-Ivy League selection and conference champion, Firkser began the 2024 season with the New York Jets, before joining the AFC West champions in November. Firkser logged action in seven games this season and has been a part of a Chiefs organization that has posted a 10-2 record since he joined the team.
This year's Super Bowl marks the second straight season in which a Harvard player has appeared at the NFL's final game. Twelve months ago, Kyle Juszczyk '13 (San Francisco) and Truman Jones '23 (Kansas City) went head-to-head at Super Bowl LVIII, with Jones and the Chiefs winning their second straight title.
Firkser, who is in his seventh NFL campaign, will be looking to add his name to the list of Harvard players to raise the Lombardi Trophy. In addition to Jones, John Dockery '66, Jamil Soriano '03, Matt Birk '98 and Cameron Brate '14 all earned the title of Super Bowl champion.
Super Bowl LIX will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. ET inside the Caesars Superdome, airing live on FOX.
