CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 23 Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving is set to compete at the annual HYP (Harvard-Yale-Princeton) meet, with this season's edition scheduled for Yale's Kiphuth Exhibition Pool in New Haven, Connecticut. The two-day meet is slated for Jan. 31 (1 p.m.)-Feb. 1 (10 a.m.).
What to Know
- The Crimson comes into its final regular-season meet with a perfect 7-0 dual record (5-0 Ivy League). Harvard has been busy the month of January, dispatching Arizona (Jan. 10) and Brown (Jan. 17) on the road before defeating Penn (207-91) and Boston College (230-68) last Saturday at Blodgett Pool.
- Harvard re-entered the CSCAA Top 25 Poll last week, landing at No. 23. The Crimson is the highest-ranked Ivy school, with Princeton tied for 24th with Northwestern. The Tigers come into this week's action with an 8-1 record (5-0 Ivy). Yale, meanwhile, is 6-0 (5-0 Ivy).
- The Crimson is looking to finish the regular season with an unblemished conference record for the 12th time in the last 17 competition seasons (2020-21 was canceled). The times where Harvard missed out on an undefeated campaign, it dropped just one dual meet (2008-09, 2009-10, 2011-12, 2015-16, 2023-24).
- Harvard has claimed the Ivy League dual-meet championship seven consecutive seasons. It has also finished first or second in the regular-season standings every year going back to 1992-93. Under Kevin Tyrrell, The Ulen-Brooks Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Swimming & Diving, the Crimson has finished first eight times and second on two different occasions.
- The Crimson is looking for a perfect overall dual-meet record, which would be the fifth under Tyrrell, who coached his first season at Harvard in 2013-14. The last time the Crimson went unbeaten was in 2022-23 (7-0).
- With a split at HYP, Harvard will have its first 8-win dual-meet season since 2021-22 (8-1). A sweep, however, will give the Crimson is first 9-win campaign since 2017-18, when it finished at 9-0.
- Harvard heads into HYP having swept six straight meets with all three teams present. The 2017 edition did not feature Princeton, but Harvard competed against Yale and defeated the Bulldogs, 225-218, in New Haven.
- The last time HYP was held at Yale was in 2022. That season, the Crimson emerged with a 248.50-104.50 win over the Bulldogs and a 228-125 decision vs. the Tigers.
- Harvard owns a 50-39 all-time series advantage against Yale and has won 31 straight head-to-head meetings. The Crimson, meanwhile, is 46-38 vs. Princeton and winners of six consecutive and nine of the last 10 get-togethers.
