Men’s Soccer’s Poliakov Wins Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Crimson Collects Four All-Ivy Honorees

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer first-year forward Adam Poliakov has won Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors, senior defender Ethan Veghte gained Academic All-Ivy, and four members of the Crimson earned All-Ivy honors, the Ivy League conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Poliakov captured both Ivy Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Ivy accolades while sophomore midfielder Phoenix Wooten collected First Team All-Ivy honors. Sophomore defender Alexander Castel gained Second Team All-Ivy plaudits, and junior forward Andreas Savva took home Honorable Mention All-Ivy laurels. Poliakov becomes Harvard's ninth Ivy League Rookie of the Year all-time and first since 2021.

Poliakov has scored five goals over his last five games and has totaled 11 points on a team-high five goals and one assist on the year. He ranks sixth in the Ivy League in goals (five) and eighth in points (11) in just nine games played. In Ivy only play, he stands second in the league in goals (four) and third in points (nine). In conference play, he led the Crimson in points (nine) and goals (four), while scoring both of the team's game-winning goals.

Wooten has registered six points on the year behind one goal and four assists, while playing in and starting 15 games on the season. He ranks ninth in the Ivy League in assists (four) and fifth in the league in assists in Ivy only games (two). Wooten posted a career-high two assists vs. Brown (Oct. 18).

Castel has helped anchor the Crimson's back line as a center back this season, playing in and starting 15 games, while ranking second on the team in minutes played (1,322). He has helped the Crimson tally five shutouts as a team this season. Castel has notched three points on the year on a goal and an assist.

Savva leads Harvard in points (13) behind four goals and five assists on the season. He stands third in the Ivy League in assists (five), fifth in points (13), seventh in shots (32), and ninth in goals (four). Savva posted a career-high five points on a career-best two goals and one assist vs. Cal (Sept. 10).

Veghte, a team captain and an applied mathematics concentrator, has played in 13 games with eight starts on the season as an outside back. He has returned to the Crimson after missing the 2024 season due to injury, posting the game-tying goal against Yale (Oct. 11).

Next, No. 4 seed Harvard will face No. 1 seed Princeton in the semifinals of the Ivy League Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium in Princeton, New Jersey.
