HOPKINTON, N.H. – Harvard cross country continued its postseason journey up north at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds, as both the Crimson's women's and men's teams finished in the top 10 of the team standings at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
In the women's 6k championship race, Harvard took seventh place, highlighted by a pair of top-15 finishes. A two-time All-Ivy League First Team selection, senior
Molly Malague powered Harvard's scoring efforts, finishing in third place with a time of 19:54.6. In her regionals debut, first-year
Dylan McElhinney excelled, taking 15
th place with a time of 20:23.5.
Two Crimson finished in the top five to push Harvard to a third place finish in the men's 10k championship race. Junior
Sam Burgess paced the Crimson's scoring efforts, taking third place after clocking a 29:18.6. A silver medalist at the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, first-year
Tam Gavenas captured fifth place after crossing the finish line in 29:21.2.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- After posting 179 points, Harvard's women's team took seventh place in the team standings in the women's 6k championship race.
- Malague was once again Harvard's top performer on the day, as the Metuchen, New Jersey native posted a 19:54.6 to finish in third place. McElhinney joined Malague in the top 15, crossing the finish line in 15th place after running a 20:23.5.
- Sophomore Abigail Sadler contributed to Harvard's scoring, taking 34th place with a time of 20:44.1. An All-Ivy League First Team honoree earlier this season, junior Sophia Gorriaran finished in 37th place with a time of 20:47.9.
- Harvard concluded its scoring efforts with a 91st place showing from Katelyn Matarese, as the La Canada, California native recorded a time of 21:26.8.
- On the men's side, Harvard finished in third place with 105 points, as two Crimson finished inside the top five. Harvard was the only school in the field with multiple top five finishers.
- Burgerss stood out, taking third place after running a 29:18.6. Gavenas joined Burgess in the top five, as the Andover, Massachusetts native grinded out a 29:21.2 to finish in fifth place.
- Junior Charlie Ortmans orchestrated a strong showing as well, taking 15th place with a time of 29:41.4. First-year Benjamin Bouie, one of four Crimson men making their NCAA regionals debut, aided Harvard's scoring efforts by taking 19th place with a time of 29:58.6.
- Junior Ethan Aidam concluded the Crimson scoring effort, finishing in 63rd place with a time of 30:44.2.
