NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 23
rd-ranked Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving team closed out the annual HYP meet on Saturday and found itself on the short end of final scores against Yale and T-No. 24 Princeton. The Crimson fell to the Bulldogs, 184-163, and dropped a 188.50-158.50 decision to the Tigers. Harvard completed the regular season with a 7-2 record (5-2 Ivy League).
How It Happened
- The Crimson opened the day with competition on the three-meter springboard and Raphael Tourette ended as Harvard's top performer, tallying a score of 281.95 to finish in seventh place. Princeton's Aidan Wang won the event with a final score of 369.20.
- In the first swimming event of the day, the Harvard 200 medley relay, found itself neck-and-neck with Yale during the final two legs. The Bulldogs, however, got the best of the Crimson, finishing in 1:25.52, compared to Harvard's 1:25.73.
- Sonny Wang finished in third place in the first individual swimming event – the 100 free. The sophomore registered his top time of the season, clocking in at 43.55.
- Anthony Rincon was edged for the 200-back victory, coming in second place with a time of 1:41.70. The senior just missed the win, falling to Princeton's Tyler Hong, who turned in a time of 1:41.62.
- Harvard finished in second place in the 200 breast as Joshua Chen posted a season-best time of 1:56.81, which gave the first-year an NCAA B-cut.
