Men’s Basketball Hands Out Team Awards at Annual Year-End Banquet

BOSTON – Junior Chandler Piggé and first-year Robert Hinton both earned the Raymond P. Lavietes '36 Most Valuable Player Award and several other members of the Crimson took home accolades as Harvard Men's Basketball celebrated its 2024-25 season at its annual year-end awards banquet on Monday night at the Harvard Club of Boston.

2024-25 Harvard Men's Basketball Award Winners 

Raymond P. Lavietes '36 Most Valuable Player Award

This award is named for the former basketball standout and loyal supporter of Harvard's men's and women's athletic programs. The award is determined by a vote of the players.

Hamilton Fish '10 Most Improved Player Award

This award is named for the former Harvard football All-American, whose commitment to improving himself and the lives of others was evidenced throughout his life.  Fish was a hero in the first World War, and later served as a distinguished congressman from New York.

Floyd S. Wilson Sportsmanship Award

Presented annually to the Harvard player whose respect for sportsmanship recalls the manner and values of Floyd Wilson, head coach of Harvard basketball from 1954 through 1968.

John Harnice '84 Spirit Award

Presented annually to the Harvard player who best exemplifies John's spirit, dedication and concern for his fellow man.

Henry Zimmerman Free Throw Accuracy Award

Presented annually to the team's most accurate free throw shooter.

Thomas G. Stemberg '71, MBA '73 Iron Man Award

Presented annually to the Harvard player who plays the most minutes, exemplifying Tom's passion, commitment and dedication.

Defensive Player of the Year Award

Presented annually to the team's top defender.

Academic Excellence Award

Presented annually to the player who achieves the most in the classroom over the past two semesters.

Charles Ogletree J.D. '78 Humanitarian Award

Presented annually to the player who embodies Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree's devotion and commitment to selfless service in the Harvard community and beyond.

Senior Manager Award

Presented annually to the top senior manager for dedication to the program.
