CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 20 Harvard men's tennis fell to No. 9 Columbia, 4-1, this evening at a packed Beren Tennis Center.
Despite a ranked battle at the top court, the Lions were dominant at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to take the doubles point. Columbia moved up 1-0 following a pair of 6-2 results.
Looking to get back into the contest, the Crimson won three first sets in singles, including
Daniel Milavsky, winning in tiebreakers over the top-ranked national singles player Michael Zheng (Columbia).
Rohan Murali provided the sole Crimson win of the day with a statement victory over No. 73 nationally ranked singles player Hugo Hashimoto (Columbia). The sophomore won the first set, 6-2, before falling in the next, 6-3. Murali ultimately settled the contest with a dominant 6-1 final set.
Despite the loss, the Crimson is the only Ivy team to have won a point against the Lions this season.
