CRANSTON, R.I. – No. 1 Harvard Sailing moved into first place in the team standings on Friday at the 2025 ICSA Open Team Race National Championship. The Crimson used a 6-1 record on the day to finish the Round of 16 and complete two races in the Round of 8 to move atop the leaderboard (14-3) as the regatta moves into the third and final day.

Harvard paired
Justin Callahan and
Kennedy Leehealey in its top boat, with
Mitchell Callahan and
Rosella Irfan competing in its No. 2 boat.
Robby Meek and
Alexandra Dorofeev, meanwhile, occupied the Crimson's No. 3 vessel.

After winning eight straight races to end its Thursday, the Crimson polished off the Round of 16 on Friday with five more wins to up its record to 13-2. Harvard opened the day with a 1-2-4 performance vs. College of Charleston before registering 1-2-3 showings in three of its final four races (Yale, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Boston College). The outlier was a 1-3-4 effort vs. U.S. Coast Guard, which was sandwiched between the St. Mary's and BC victories.

With the top record secured, Harvard moved on to the Round of 8, and was joined by Roger Williams, Yale, Dartmouth, Brown, Stanford, Boston College and Tulane. The last two teams in that top-8 advanced after a sail off with Navy.

In a rush against sunset and the impending inclement weather on Saturday, sailors began the Round of 8. The Crimson had its 13-race winning streak snapped, finishing 3-5-6 vs. BC. Harvard, however, responded with a 1-3-5 performance to down Tulane to complete its day. The Crimson still has races to complete against Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, Yale and Roger Williams. When the Round of 8 is done, the four schools with the best records will advance to compete for a national crown.

As things stand at the end of competition on Friday, Harvard leads all schools at 14-3, with Yale lurking at 14-4. Roger Williams (13-5), Dartmouth (11-6) and Brown (11-6) round out the top five, with Boston College (10-7), Stanford (10-7) and Tulane (8-9) sitting in the sixth through eighth spots.

Harvard, which won the title in 2023 and was the runner-up 12 months ago, will return to the water tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET, with the action airing live on ESPN+.
