Ivy League, School Records Set at Penn Relays, Tiger Track Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –  As its done all year, Harvard track & field made history, breaking school and Ivy League records at the Penn Relays and the Tiger Track Classic.

An All-America First Team honoree in the women's discus last season, sophomore Milina Wepwié reset her Ivy League record in the event at the Penn Relays, taking first place with a throw of 59.75m (196'0").

On the track in Auburn, first-year Harlow Tong broke the program record in the men's 400m at the Tiger Track Classic, doing so with a time of 46.55. Tong surpasses the former school record of 46.73 set by Jovahn Williamson '21 in 2019.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Crimson made its presence felt on the final day of the Penn Relays, as Wepiwé won the women's discus with a major result, resetting her Ivy League record in the event with a throw of 59.75m (196'0").
  • Down south in Alabama, the women's 4x100m relay kicked off Harvard's time at the Tiger Track Classic. Junior Mfoniso Andrew, senior Chloe Fair, first-year Saige Forbes and sophomore Mickaila Haisley posted a time of 45.25, finishing in second place. That time now ranks fifth all-time in school history.
  • Two Crimson relay teams took part in the men's 4x100m relay. The school record holders in the event, sophomore Timi Esan, junior Jonas Clarke, and first-years Jordan Coleman and LeRoy Horton won the event with a time of 40.20. In second place with a time of 41.02 were first-years Tong, Camren Ware, Hudson Allain and junior Reuben Henry-Daire, as that time ranks tenth all-time in program history.
  • In the women's 100m hurdles, a pair of Crimson took spots on the podium. The defending Ivy League champion in the women's 60m hurdles, junior Fabiola Belibi took second with a time of 13.71, as senior Izzy Goudros captured third after recording a 13.81.
  • Sophomore Simon Weiser placed second in the men's 100m hurdles after posting a time of 14.30.
  • After a record-breaking weekend in the 800m last week, senior Victoria Bossong won the women's 400m at the Tiger Track Classic, doing so with a time of 52.08.
  • A quarter of Crimson ran the men's 400m. Tong highlighted Harvard's showing in the event, taking fifth with a time of 46.55, surpassing the former school record held by Jovahn Williamson '21. Fellow classmate Hudson Allain also finished in the top-10, placing seventh with a time of 47.03, moving him up to fourth all-time in school history. Senior Steffan Jones finished in 11th (48.31), while Henry-Daire placed in 12th (48.58).
  • After running the women's 4x100m relay, Haisley and Forbes returned to track for the women's 100m dash. Haisley finished in 11th (12.03), while Forbes took 12th (12.15).
  • Over in the men's 100m, Clarke finished in seventh with a time of 10.44, as Horton set a new personal-best of 10.57 to take ninth place.
  • Fair shined in the women's 400m hurdles, winning the event with a personal-best time of 55.85, improving on her fourth fastest-time in school history. Fair now ranks eighth in the nation in the event.
  • In the men's 400m hurdles, junior Michal Husek set a new PR in the event, finishing in second with a time of 52.88.
  • The women's 200m saw Goudros finish in eighth with a time of 23.76, as Andrew placed in 11th after running a 24.10. Sophomore Marta Amani (24.47) and Haisley (24.52) both ran their fastest outdoor 200m, taking 13th and 14th, respectively.
  • Clarke and Tong continued their impressive days in the 200m. Clarke finished in fifth with a personal-best 20.98, as he now ranks fourth all-time in the event. Tong posted a time of 21.06 to take sixth, as he ranks fifth all-time in the men's 200m in school history.
  • In the women's 4x400m relay, Fair, Bossong, Andrew and Goudros combined for a time of 3:30.40 to take second place. This time ranks 15th nationally, second all-time in school history, and third all-time in Ivy League history.
  • In the field events, junior Daire Mahon cleared a 1.96m (6'5") to finish in sixth, as that mark is his best clearance in outdoor competition.
  • The men's pole vault saw first-year Philip Andreas Kubon clear 5.07m (16'7.5") to take third place, as he improves on his mark that ranks sixth all-time in program history.
  • Amani finished in second in the women's long jump, leaping to 6.13m (20'1.5").  
  • Senior Anastasia Retsa and first-year Ella McRitchie finished in a tie for second place after both cleared 4.09m (13'5").
