Men's Heavyweight Rowing

Men's Heavyweights Sweep Cornell in Eights to Claim Robinson Cup

ITHACA, N.Y. — The No. 3 Harvard men's heavyweight rowing team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday morning in Ithaca, N.Y., winning four of five races against No. 13 Cornell to reclaim the Robinson Cup and even the all-time series at 28-28.

The Crimson set the tone early, with the third varsity eight (3V) cruising to a 5:40.4 finish, well ahead of Cornell's 5:58.9. Harvard's top boats continued to dominate, as the first varsity eight (1V) maintained its unbeaten streak against Cornell since 2010 with a sharp 5:30 effort—15 seconds faster than the Big Red (5:45). The second varsity eight (2V) followed suit with a decisive 5:34.3 win over Cornell's 5:53.9.

Harvard's depth was on full display in the fourth varsity eight (4V) race as well, with the Crimson crossing in 5:50.7, a full 18 seconds ahead of Cornell (6:09.2).

Cornell's lone win came in the varsity four (4+), edging out Harvard, 6:41.0 to 7:03.6. It was the first race of the season for Harvard's 4+ lineup, which will look to build on the experience.
