Women's Heavyweight Rowing

2025 Season Recap: Harvard-Radcliffe Heavyweight Rowing

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The 2025 season marked a major step forward for Harvard-Radcliffe Heavyweight Rowing. In her second year as head coach, Claire Ochal led a determined and resilient group that built on last season's foundation and embraced each race as a chance to elevate the program. With a renewed sense of focus and confidence, the Black and White returned to the water aiming not just to compete—but to make a statement.

One of the team's defining performances came at the Big Ten Invitational, where Radcliffe swept all four races on the final day. Facing a nationally competitive field—including UCLA, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Duke, and Alabama—the team showcased both depth and speed, posting wins across every lineup.

That strength and consistency helped Radcliffe rise to No. 11 in the national rankings, reflecting their growing presence on the national stage.

At the Ivy League Championships, the team earned a 6th-place finish in the first varsity eight and placed 4th in the remaining four events—demonstrating solid performances throughout the fleet.

The season closed with an impressive showing at Eastern Sprints, where Radcliffe medaled in four events: bronze in the varsity eight, silver in the second varsity eight and first varsity four, and bronze in the second varsity four. The third varsity eight narrowly missed the podium, placing fourth.

Capping off their progress, Radcliffe earned its first NCAA Championship appearance since 2014 with an at-large bid—solidifying the season as one of the program's most successful in recent memory.
With momentum building, the team looks to carry that energy into 2026 and beyond.
