CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Harvard men's rowing is off to a strong start at the 2025 Henley Royal Regatta, as the
varsity four claimed victory in their
opening round of the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, defeating
Radley College on
Wednesday, July 2.
The Crimson crew — coxed by
Cate Engles and stroked by
Liam Downing — asserted control early, jumping out to a decisive lead in the opening 500 meters. Establishing rhythm through the middle of the course, Harvard maintained their margin and managed the race with poise, gradually lowering the stroke rate as they approached the finish line. They crossed ahead by
one and three-quarter boat lengths, securing their place in the next round.
Harvard now advances to
round two on Thursday, July 3, where they will face
University of London 'A' at
2:45 p.m. BST / 9:45 a.m. ET.
Varsity Four – Prince Albert Challenge Cup
The Prince Albert Challenge Cup features university and collegiate coxed fours and is one of Henley's most competitive events. The Crimson will look to continue their strong form as they move deeper into the bracket.
