Softball Summer Spotlight: Riley Flynn

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – This summer, Riley joined Team IMPACT Fellows from across the country for a three-day training and workshop at Boston University. As a Fellow, she works with Harvard Athletics and the broader community to raise awareness about Team IMPACT and help create life-changing connections between children with serious illnesses and disabilities and college teams.

Q: Where did you do the workshop?
A: Team IMPACT Fellows from across the country came together for a three-day training and workshop at Boston University.

Q: What was your role?
A: As a Team IMPACT Fellow I work directly with Harvard's athletic department and the broader community to raise awareness about the program and increase participation.

Q: What is something you learned during your experience?
A: Getting to hear from the kids and their families at the summit was amazing! We heard all about the amazing relationships they have with their teams, and it was so great to learn how much these kids mean to their teams.

Q: How did this experience help you grow?
A: I'm excited to take what I learned at the summit from both the speakers and other fellows and apply it at Harvard. My goal is to implement new ideas within our team and across campus to create the best possible experience for both our Team IMPACT players and our teams.

Q: What was your favorite part of this experience?
A: My favorite part was getting to know fellows from all different sports and all across the country. Hearing about their experiences with Team IMPACT was really helpful and gave me so many new ideas!

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give?
A: Team IMPACT is an incredible organization that does so much for kids with serious illnesses and disabilities by creating these amazing, long-term friendships with college sports teams. It's truly a life-changing experience for everyone involved. Through the program, I've seen firsthand how every child feels supported by something bigger, and every team is transformed by a greater purpose.
