Sailing Reveals Fall 2025 Competition Slate

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing announced today its schedule for the Fall 2025 campaign. The Crimson's regatta slate features 11 races on the Charles River and will begin in earnest on Sept. 6.

The defending ICSA Open Team Race National Champions will start its competition slate with five regattas during the weekend of Sept. 6-7. The Charles Invitational (Sept. 6), Toni Deutsch Trophy (Sept. 6-7) and Harvard Invitational (Sept. 7) are set for the famed Charles River, with Harvard sending athletes on the road to the two-day Harry Anderson Trophy (at Yale) and Harmon Trophy (at Maine Maritime).

The Crimson will look to defend its open title (Robby Meek) and improve upon its runner-up finish (Kate Danielson) at the NEISA Singlehanded Championships the weekend of Sept. 12-13. While Harvard is at the NEISA event, other Crimson sailors will be on the Charles River for the Hatch Brown Trophy (MIT) and Regis Trophy (Harvard/Boston University) on Sept. 13.

A four-regatta weekend is on tap for Sept. 20-21, with all four scheduled for the road, although the Hood Trophy will be in town and hosted by Tufts. Harvard lifted the Hood Trophy a year ago. The NEISA Match Race Championships, Hoyt Trophy and Mrs. Hurst Bowl, meanwhile, will be at U.S. Coast Guard, Brown and Dartmouth, respectively. Similar to the Hood, the Crimson won the NEISA event in 2024.

On Sept. 27, the Smith Trophy and BU Invitational will keep Harvard on the Charles River, while regattas at Navy (Women's ACC – Round 1) and USCGA (Danmark Trophy) will require two days' worth of attention (Sept. 27-28) for the Crimson. Harvard will enter the Danmark Trophy as the returning champions.

A busy September will give way to an equally full month of October, with the weekend of Oct. 4-5 taking the Crimson to USCGA for a third time (Open ACC – Round 1), Connecticut College (Stu Nelson Trophy) and Salve Regina (Sister Esther Open).

The schedule lets up a bit the next two weekends with only two regattas scheduled in back-to-back weeks. On Oct. 11-12, Harvard and MIT will play host to the Women's ACC – Final, while sending a group north for the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth. Seven days later (Oct. 18-19), the Crimson will appear at Navy for the Open ACC – Final and at Yale for its Women's Regatta.

The final fall regular-season weekend, Oct. 25-26, will keep Harvard on the Charles River for the Terrier Invitational (Boston University), Victorian Urn Trophy (defending champion Harvard) and Schell Trophy (MIT) before shifting its focus to a pair of ICSA national races (singlehanded, match racing). Dates for the national regattas have yet to be determined. Last year, Sophia Montgomery won the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship.

The last time Harvard was in action, it finished in third place at the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship and in fifth at the open race. The pair of performances came three weeks after the Crimson won the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship and came in third at the women's regatta.

This season, Harvard is poised to have another terrific year, with four of its six All-Americans from 2024-25 expected to return to the team. Leading the group is the reigning College Sailor of the Year Justin Callahan, who was the second straight Crimson sailor to earn the top award in collegiate sailing (Lachlain McGranahan – 2024), along with Mitchell Callahan (Open Skipper All-American), Kennedy Leehealey (Crew All-American) and Zoey Ziskind (Women's Skipper All-American).
