CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 18 Crimson split its opening games of the 2025 season after beating Bucknell in the morning slot before falling to No. 3 Fordham in the final game of the day.
The Crimson returns to action tomorrow against Gannon and Wagner to close the opening weekend at Blodgett Pool.
Harvard opened the Bruno Classic with its first win of the season, pulling out a tight back-and-forth battle against Bucknell. The Crimson held an 11-10 lead heading into the final quarter before two goals from
Dean Strauser helped seal the 15-12 victory.
Oliver Price earned the start in goal, while
Tanner Furtak came on in the second half and made eight stellar saves to close out the win.
The reigning NWPC Rookie of the Year, Strauser, led the way offensively and finished the day with 7 goals and two assists.
The Crimson battled with the No. 3 Rams and fought all the way back to trail 8-6 at the half. While Fordham controlled play for much of the opening minutes, Harvard battled back to get within reach at the half. Fordham was able to double its lead in the second half and protect the four goal advantage to end the day.
GAME 1: Harvard 15, Bucknell 12
- Seven different Crimson scored in the victory.
- Jack Burghardt tallied four goals, while Strauser and Burghardt combined for more than half of Harvard's total offense.
- Jacob Tsotadze added two goals.
- Vilas Sogaard-Srikrishnan recorded two assists, including a key helper in the fourth quarter.
- Connor Kim contributed two assists in his first collegiate game.
- Emil Sogaard-Srikrishnan notched his first career point with a second-quarter assist.
- Felix Pal scored his first career goal.
GAME 2: Fordham 15, Harvard 11
- Tyler Hogan, Mason Hunt, and Conor Kim all scored once.
- Emil Sogaard-Srikrishan added his second of the day.
- Dean Strauser added another three goals and two assists.
- Felix Pal scored twice.
- Both goalies saw time in the game two with Oliver Price making seven saves in the second, third, and fourth quarters.
