CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing finished its fourth week of the fall this past weekend by competing at five regattas up and down the east coast. The Crimson finished in fourth place at the Danmark Trophy, seventh at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round 1, 11
th at the Moody Trophy and BU Invitational, and 13
th at the Smith Trophy.
Danmark Trophy | New London, Conn.
A lack of wind over the weekend in Connecticut limited the amount of sailing athletes could get in, but they were able to get eight in the books on Saturday and three on Sunday.
Robby Meek and
Rosella Irfan represented Harvard in the A-division, while
Harrison Strom and
Christina Chen went against the B-field. For Meek-Irfan, the duo finished the regatta with five straight top-8 performances after logging just three over the first six races. Strom-Chen, meanwhile, was steady all weekend with eight single-digit finishes and nine top-10 efforts, ultimately posting a final score of 78. The Crimson ended the regatta in fourth place with 172 points, coming in behind Yale (63), College of Charleston (149) and Brown (155).
Women's Atlantic Coast Championship – Round 1 | Annapolis, Md.
A wind-less Severn River forced sailors to travel two miles away from the U.S. Naval Academy just to get in a handful of races each day. Saturday featured five, Sunday one, before the wind picked up, allowing for four additional races on the final day.
Zoey Ziskind and
Peyton Hadfield were the Crimson's A-sailors, while
Kate Danielson (1-6) and
Sophia Montgomery (7-9) teamed with
Katherine Shin in the B-division. Ziskind and Hadfield produced six top-9 performances, which included a win in Race 6, and finished with a 75. Danielson and Shin opened with four straight top-9 finishes before Montgomery and Shin enjoyed the best three-race showing (5-7-2) to end the regatta. The trio combined for a 72. Harvard posted an overall score of 147, and finished behind Stanford (61), Cornell (96), Brown (97), Tulane (106), Bowdoin (115) and College of Charleston (133).
Moody Trophy | Kingston, R.I
A slow start on Salt Pond gave way to great conditions as the Crimson finished in 11
th place with 152 points. A-division sailors
Jacob Posner and
Amelie Zucker enjoyed the second-best showing in the group as they posted a 37. Minus a disqualification to open the regatta, Posner-Zucker put up an impressive finish line of 1-1-3-2-5-2-4 over the final seven races.
Xavier Ayala-Vermont and
Julia Downey, meanwhile, gained momentum down the stretch and finished with a regatta-best 11
th-place showing in the final race.
BU Invitational | Cambridge, Mass.
Great conditions greeted sailors at the one-day, three-race BU Invitational on the Charles River.
James Bergstrom and
JJ Drummond competed against the A-field, while
Grace Naylor and
Skyler Reading represented the Crimson in the B-division. Both pairings recorded their best finishes in the final race of the day. Bergstrom-Drummond came in 10
th place to finish with a line of 13-12-10, while Naylor-Reading posted a ninth-place performance in Race 3, to end with a 16-10-9 line. The duos each posted a 35 to give Harvard a 70, which was good for 11
th place in the 17-team field.
Smith Trophy | Cambridge, Mass.
Caroline Straw and
Catherine Mignone sailed for Harvard-A, while
Olivia Hogan-Lopez and
Hanah Youn competed in the B-division at the one-day Smith Trophy. Straw and Mignone had its best showing in Race 2, when they finished in fourth place. Hogan-Lopez and Youn started slow, but gained a rhythm toward the end as they went 9-6-10 in the final three races of the day en route to an 80. Overall, the Crimson finished in 13
th place with a score of 166.

Harvard will travel to New London for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Round 1 and Stu Nelson Trophy, and appear in Newport, Rhode Island, for the Sister Esther Open. All three regattas are slated for Saturday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 5.
