Davidson, Tuffy Named to National Goalie of the Year Watch List

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Women's Hockey Commissioners Association has Harvard goaltenders, Emily Davidson and Ainsley Tuffy as two of the 31 goalies in the nation on the annual Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Watch List. The Crimson goaltending duo has been the anchor of the team's turnaround this season, combining with first-year goalie Izzy Whynot to post some of the nation's best goaltending statistics. The group has combined for a .937 save percentage and a 2.014 GAA which are good for seventh and 11th in the nation, respectively. This is Tuffy's second career nomination to the watch list and the firs tfor Davidson.

The nomination to the list follows a breakthrough month for the standout sophomore netminder Tuffy, who currently leads the nation in save percentage at a 95.6-percent clip. A Duxbury native, Tuffy has led the Crimson to six victories in eight starts this season and has held opponents to just 1.61 goals per game in those contests. A rising star for the Crimson, Tuffy has helped lead the team to some impressive victories this season and helped Harvard reach the 10-win total for the first time in five years. During the 2025-26 season, Tuffy has minded the net for wins over Maine, Union, Brown, Boston College and – most notably - No. 5 Minnesota Duluth at the 2026 Friendship Series tournament.  Her 55 saves against the Bulldogs in Belfast were the third-most all-time by a Harvard goalie and the most for a goalie in a winning effort in program history. A 2024-25 National Goalie of the Year Watch List candidate, Tuffy most recently helped Harvard defeat the Boston College Eagles with 40 saves in a thrilling 2-1 victory on Jan. 13, helping the Crimson advance to the Beanpot Championship game for the first time since 2022.

A senior captain for the Crimson, Davidson has been a stable veteran presence in net for Harvard. In seven appearances this season, Davidson has posted a .927 save percentage and a 2.16 GAA to rank sixth and seventh in the ECAC. She has led the team to several key victories this season including wins over Dartmouth (Nov. 8) and No. 10 Yale (Nov. 14). The Canadian was especially impressive in the contest against Yale, making a career high 43 saves while allowing just one goal to stump one of the nation's best offensive attacks in its home rink. A very consistent performer for Harvard, Davidson has posted two shutouts on the season against Saint Michael's (Oct. 17) and Dartmouth (Nov 8) and currently ranks tied for sixth in the conference for her shutout total.

The National Goalie of the Year award was created in 2021 to recognize the top female goalie in NCAA Division I hockey. The goalies to watch come from all five NCAA Division I conferences with 16 from the United States, ten from Canada and five from Europe (two from Finland and Sweden and one from Denmark.)

This initial "Watch List" of outstanding goalies is comprised of those with a goals against average of 2.20 or lower or a save percentage of .923 or higher. A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — will pare this list down within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.
