No. 3 Men’s Squash Earns 7-2 Win Against No. 6 Columbia

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 3 Harvard men's squash team earned another strong result in its return to the courts this afternoon, defeating the No. 6 Columbia Lions, 7-2. The Crimson (5-0, 2-0 Ivy) secured a hard-earned win over the Lions (3-2, 0-1 Ivy) to remain unbeaten on the season.
 

How it Happened

The Crimson opened its second semester schedule this afternoon with a match against the sixth-ranked Columbia Lions. Harvard put its undefeated record on the line against the No. 6 Lions in the Crimson's second Ivy match of the season.
 
Harvard grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the lead in the match after wins at sevens and sixes by Jacob Lin and Alexander Broadbridge, respectively. Lin posted a 3-1 win, rallying to win three consecutive games after dropping the first. A first-year, Broadbridge came from down 1-2 to win the final two games of his matchup and earn a 3-2 victory in a thrilling win. David Costales battled at ones, eventually falling, 2-3, at the top of the ladder. The Crimson maintained a 2-1 lead after the first wave of matches.
 
Ishant Shah opened the second wave with a swift 3-0 victory at nines. Maddox Moxham rallied from behind in his match at fives but fell in a five-set marathon, 2-3. Denis Gilevskiy closed out the wave with a solid 3-1 win at twos, putting Harvard in a position to clinch the win.
 
The final wave of student-athletes got the job done for Harvard, posting three wins to push Harvard over the finish line. Omar Azzam and Christian Capella each posted 3-0 wins at threes and fours, respectively to secure the win for Harvard. Segev Rome closed out the match for the Crimson at eights, winning the final two games – including a 12-10 win the decisive fifth-game – to take the win.
 
Harvard walked out of the Murr Center with another hard-fought result after posting a 7-2 win over its Ivy rivals.
