Track & Field Wraps Up Beantown Challenge

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field picked up right where it left off before the winter recess, as the Crimson posted strong results at the Beantown Challenge on home turf at Gordon Indoor Track.  

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Action at the Beantown Challenge started with the women's weight throw, as senior Michaela Denson took fourth place with a throw of 17.23m (56'6.5") on her final attempt of the afternoon. Junior Alice Mihas, one of the Crimson's team captains this season, returned to competition with a sixth place finish, securing her spot with a throw of 16.19m (53'1.5").
  • An All-American in the women's long jump during the 2025 outdoor season, junior Marta Amani opened her campaign with a second place finish in the women's long jump at the Beantown Challenge, as the Villa Cortese, Italy native posted a 6.01m (19'8.75") on her final jump of the day.
  • The women's pole vault saw a pair of Crimson finish in the top three. The Ivy League's defending women's pole vault champion in indoor competition, sophomore Ella McRitchie earned the win at the Beantown Challenge after clearing 4.10m (13'5.25") as junior Lilly Hodge joined McRitchie in the top five after leaping over 4.00m (13'1.25").
  • In the men's long jump, first-year Yannick Kraus took fourth place in the event, doing so on his second attempt of the day with a jump of 6.73m (22'1"), a new career-best for the Dubai, United Arab Emirates native.
  • Sophomore Saige Forbes finished in fifth in the women's triple jump, posting a jump of 11.55m (37'10.75") in her first collegiate appearance in the event.
  • Back in the throwing cages, first-year Daniel Ye keeps showing progress in the men's weight throw, as the Chappaqua, New York native finished in fourth place after throwing a personal-best 17.89m (58'8.5").
  • Another top-five finish in the throwing cages arrived for the Crimson in the women's shot put, as sophomore Tyler Glover finished in third place with a throw of 14.66m (48'1.25").
  • The men's 60 hurdles saw junior Simon Weiser finish in fourth place in the finals, as his time of 8.04 in the prelims is a new personal-best and is tied for fifth all-time in school history.
  • Over in the women's 60 hurdles, sophomore Abby Dennis continued her stellar start to the season, taking third place with a personal-best time of 8.57. Dennis' time in the 60 hurdles is now tied for 10th all-time in program history.
  • Harvard produced more top 10 marks in the men's 60m dash. Four Crimson advanced to the finals, as sophomore Amari Turner led the way in the prelims with a time of 6.75, a personal-best and a mark that is tied for sixth all-time in school history. The 60m final saw junior Timi Esan finish in second place with a time of 6.77, as Turner captured fourth after sprinting a 6.83. Senior and team captain Jonas Clarke finished in sixth place with a 6.85, while sophomore Harlow Tong finished in seventh place after crossing the finish line in 6.88.
  • In the women's 60m, sophomore Ella Cooper finished in fifth place in the final with a time of 7.71, as Forbes took eighth after running a 7.66.
  • A top 10 finish highlighted the Crimson's showing in the women's 600m, as sophomore Kaelin Creagh logged a time of 1:37.68 to capture eighth place. Over in the men's 600m, senior Justing Levy made an immediate impact in his season debut, winning the race with a time of 1:19.79. Three more Crimson also finished in the top 10 of the men's 600m. First-year Hudson McGough took fifth place honors after running a 1:20.18, as sophomore JT Kraemer finished right behind McGough in sixth place with a time of 1:20.26. First-year Preston Ellis rounded out the Harvard representation in the top 10 with a ninth place showing and a time of 1:20.84.
  • After producing top 10 finishes on the straightaway earlier in the day, Cooper and Dennis returned to the track for the women's 300m. Cooper led the way, taking third place with a time of 39.65, as Dennis placed in sixth after posting a 40.61.
  • Turner picked up his first win of the year in the men's 300m, as his time of 33.42 ranks second all-time in school history. Sophomore Hudson Allain went 33.72 to finish in second place, as that time ranks fourth in program history.
  • Junior Isaac Delaney earned a second place finish in the men's shot put, doing so with a throw of 16.63m (54'6.75").
  • The women's high jump saw first-year Jillene Wetteland finish in fifth place after clearing the bar at 1.65m (5'5") on her second attempt. In the men's high jump, first-year Joachim Johnson took the win after clearing a personal-best 2.11m (6'11"), a mark that ranks fifth all-time in school history. The men's high jump also saw senior Daire Mahon finish in fourth place after clearing a personal-best 2.00m (6'6.75").
  • The day ended with the men's 4x440y relay, as McGough, Levy, sophomore Brayden Chavez and senior Reuben Henry-Daire combined for a time of 3:19.77 to take the win.

Harvard hits the road for the first time this season next weekend, as the Crimson will feature at the Dr. Sander Scorcher in New York on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24.
