GREENWOOD, Ind. – After a stellar semester both in competition and in the classroom, a total of eight Harvard track & field student-athletes garnered College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
On the women's team, junior
Marta Amani, sophomore
Abigail Dennis, junior
Sophia Gorriaran and senior
Molly Malague all took CSC Academic All-District nods, while the men's team saw junior
Tito Alofe, junior
Sam Burgess, junior
Charlie Ortmans and sophomore
Harlow Tong all earn the honor.
The school record holder in the women's long jump, Amani was once again a key contributor for the Crimson this season, scoring points in the 400m, 4x400m relay and the long jump at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships in Princeton, New Jersey. A native of Villa Cortese, Italy, Amani is a concentrator in human evolutionary biology and physics.
Dennis enjoyed a breakout season in both the 100 and 400 hurdles this season, as the Maywood, New Jersey native set a new school record in the women's 100 hurdles with a time of 13.32 at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky to end the 2025-26 track & field campaign. Dennis is currently studying government at Harvard.
Now a five-time All-American in the 800m across both indoor and outdoor competition, Gorriaran embarked on a historic season this year. Gorriaran closed out the indoor regular season by setting a new NCAA record in the women's 1000m (2:37.72) at the Saucony Battle for Boston, as she also earned Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete honors at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships with wins in both the 800m and mile. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran is concentrating in government.
One of the Crimson's cross country captains for the 2025 season, Malague ends her career at Harvard with Academic All-District honors. A native of Metuchen, New Jersey, Malague finished in third place at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Cross Country Championships and was an at-large qualifier for the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Malague recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
The 2026 NCAA indoor men's high jump national champion, Alofe etched his name in Harvard history with another remarkable year. A native of Peachtree City, Georgia, Alofe is now a six-time All-American in the high jump, as he also took home his third-consecutive Ivy League title in the outdoor men's high jump. Alofe is a dual concentrator in both economics and neuroscience.
Burgess, a native of Framingham, Massachusetts, shined across both cross country and track & field competition this season. The 2025 Paul Short Run champion, Burgess helped the Crimson secure an at-large team bid for the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships with a third place showing at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Cross Country Championships, as Burgess also qualified for the 2026 NCAA East First Round in both the 5000m and the 10,000m in outdoor track action. Burgess is currently studying statistics at Harvard.
The 2025-26 season saw Ortmans emerge as one of the marquee distance talents in the Ancient Eight, as the Arlington, Virginia native was an All-America Second Team selection in the 10,000m during the outdoor season. At the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships, Ortmans earned Most Outstanding Men's Track Athletes honors after first place showings in both the 3000m and 5000m. Ortmans also took home the Ivy League title in the 10,000m at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships. Ortmans is a concentrator in applied mathematics.
Tong was sensational in the men's 400m this year, as the Saint Paul, Minnesota native set a new school record in the event with a time of 45.70 at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships. With that time, Tong also qualified for the NCAA East First Round for the first time in his career. Tong is currently concentrating in economics and environmental science & policy.
The CSC Academic All-America team will be unveiled on Tuesday, July 14
th.
