CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior infielder Sophie Sun, the 2024 Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year, earns Preseason Mid-Major D100 honors from D1Softball with the Crimson's 2026 season quickly approaching.

One of the top talents in the northeast and beyond, Sun is a premier offensive threat in the Ancient Eight, as Sun is one of three Ivy League student-athletes to earn a spot in the Preseason Mid-Major D100. A native of Austin, Texas, 2025 saw Sun rank in the top five in the Ivy League in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.469), runs scored (33), hits (53) and total bases (81). Sun also garnered National Fastpitch Coaches Association Northeast All-Region Third Team and All-Ivy League honorable mention accolades.

In just two seasons in Cambridge, Sun has already cemented herself as one of the top student-athletes in program history. Owning a .416 career batting average, Sun is the current all-time program leader in batting average, as her .714 career slugging percentage also ranks first in program history. In 2024, Sun became the first student-athlete in school history to earn a spot on the TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 list.

Harvard starts the 2026 season in just 26 days, as the Crimson kick-off the campaign in Phoenix, Arizona against Sacramento State and Northern Colorado on Saturday, Feb. 14.
