CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field concluded its time in New York today, as the Crimson shined on the final day of the Dr. Sander Scorcher.
The women's 800m elite section saw junior
Sophia Gorriaran orchestrate a signature moment, as the Providence, Rhode Island native ran a 2:01.30 to take fifth place, as that time is current national leader in the NCAA.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The women's 200m seeded section and the men's 200m open sections started the final day of action for the Crimson at The Armory. Sophomore Abigail Dennis impressed in the women's 200m seeded section, finishing in fifth place with a time of 24.92. Fellow classmate Camren Ware finished in 40th in the men's 200m open section with a time of 23.43.
- Sophomore Ella Cooper was the lone Crimson competitor in the women's 200m invitational, as the Owings Mills, Maryland native took second place with a time of 24.25.
- Junior Amari Turner highlighted the Crimson's output in the men's 200m invitational, finishing in second place with a time of 21.56. Classmate Timi Esan took sixth place with a 22.05 in the third and final heat, while senior and team captain Jonas Clarke finished in seventh after sprinting a 22.16.
- The women's 800m elite section saw a major moment, as Gorriaran finished in fifth place with a time of 2:01.30. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran's time at the Dr. Sander Scorcher is the top mark in the nation this season.
- Over in the field events, senior and team captain Daire Mahon finished in 17th in the men's high jump invitational after clearing 1.91m (6'3.25"), while first-year Demetrios Tzoannos leapt over 1.86m (6'1.25") to finish in 21st.
- The women's high jump invitational saw first-year Jillene Wetteland clear 1.58m (5'2.25") to finish in 16th place.
- Junior Lilly Hodge registered a spot in the top five in the women's pole vault invitational, clearing 3.95m (12'11.5") to do so.
- First-year Zoe Li-Khan finished in 12th in the women's pole vault open after leaping past 2.95m (9'8").
- In the men's shot put open, junior Isaac Delaney finished in third place with a throw of 16.54m (54'3.25"). Over in the women's shot put invitational, sophomore Tyler Glover took fifth after throwing 14.09m (46'2.75").
- Harvard's time in the Empire State ended with a series of strong showings in the 4x400m relay.
- The women's 4x400m relay invitational team of Dennis, Cooper, sophomore Kaelin Creagh and Gorriaran posted a time of 3:45.17 to finish in fourth place.
- Over on the men's side of the 4x400m relay invitational, sophomore Hudson Allain, first-year Arpad Kovacs, junior Amari Turner and senior Justin Levy took home the win with a time of 3:11.71, a time that ranks sixth in school history.

Harvard will host the Harvard Invitational and will also feature at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31.
