LAKE PLACID, N.Y. and WATERVILLE, Maine – Nordic skiing had eight top 30 finishes across two days at the Colby Carnival while
Duncan Armstrong and
Skylar Sheppard built on their strong starts last weekend.
As a team the Crimson finished eighth with the two best finishes featuring the men's alpine team earning a sixth-place finish in the grand slalom event and the nordic women's team on the first day of competition.

In Waterville, day one saw
Bennett Hutchison finish in 18
th on the men's side while the women saw
Hayden McJunkin,
Hanna Wilsey, and
Breagh Bridge all finish in the top 30 while day two saw continued success as Braeden Bellizzi finished in 12
th just a minute off the leader.
For the women, the Crimson saw four student-athletes jump into the top 30 with
Clara Lake finishing 18
th and Bridge,
Meredith Schwartz and McJunkin finishing 23
rd, 27
th, and 28
th respectively.

Snowfall throughout the week created challenging conditions, limiting course resets but allowing competition to proceed as scheduled.
In Thursday's giant slalom, sophomore
Skylar Sheppard led the women with a 15th-place finish after posting the fifth-fastest second run. On the men's side,
Duncan Armstrong paced the Crimson with a ninth place finish.
Friday's slalom took place under continued snowfall and extreme cold.
Luke Kearing led the men with an 11th-place finish in a tightly grouped field, followed by Armstrong in 19th. For the women, Sheppard placed tied for 17th after sitting fifth following the first run.
