Track & Field Ends Strong Weekend at Harvard Invitational, Terrier Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Another successful weekend is in the books for Harvard track & field, as the Crimson wrap its time at the Harvard Invitational and John Thomas Terrier Classic with impressive results and performances.

HARVARD INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
  • First-year Yannick Kraus started the final day of the men's heptathlon at the Harvard Invitational with an 8.72 in the 60 hurdles, putting him in third place overall with 3637 points. Kraus moved up the ranks with a strong showing in the men's pole vault, clearing 4.30m (14'2.25") to increase his points tally to 4339 and jump into second place heading into the final event of the heptathlon.
  • Kraus concluded his weekend in the heptathlon with a time of 2:55.98 in the 1000m, ending the heptathlon in second place with 5043 points. Kraus ranks third all-time in school history in the heptathlon and is only the third student-athlete in program history to surpass 5000 points in the event.
  • In the women's 3000m, first-year Ella Cohen finished in sixth place with a time of 10:15.20, as fellow classmate Caitlyn Chang took 16th after crossing the finish line in 10:41.94.
  • Harvard went 1-2 in the women's weight throw championship section. Senior Michaela Denson finished in first, as her final throw of 18.09m (59'4.25") cemented her spot atop the standings. Junior and team captain Alice Mihas finished in second with a personal-best throw of 17.60m (57'9"), as that mark ranks 10th all-time in school history.
  • Impressive performances for the Crimson arrived in the women's 60 hurdles final and the women's 60m final.
  • The defending Ivy League champion in the women's 60 hurdles, senior Fabiola Belibi was stellar in the final, winning the event with a personal-best time of 8.29. Belibi was just shy of the school record of 8.28 set by Jada Jones '22 during the 2022 season. Sophomore Abigail Dennis finished in third place after posting a time of 8.44, another personal-best, as that time ranks seventh all-time in program history.
  • Sophomore Saige Forbes finished in fourth in the women's 60m final, as her time of 7.55 is a new personal-best. Along with Forbes, sophomore Ella Cooper matched her personal-best of 7.59 to take sixth in the women's 60m final.
  • An All-American in the women's outdoor long jump last season, junior Marta Amani finished in third place with a jump of 5.66m (18'10") in the event at the Harvard Invitational.
  • In the championship section of the women's shot put, sophomore Tyler Glover finished in second place with a throw of 14.46m (47'5.25").
  • After setting a new Ivy League record in the women's 1000m yesterday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, junior Sophia Gorriaran picked up a win in the women's mile with a time of 4:42.19.
  • First-year Jillene Wetteland cleared 1.62m (5'3.75") to finish in ninth place in the women's high jump championship section.
  • After an impressive showing in the women's 60m final, Forbes hopped over to the women's triple jump championship section, ending the event with a jump of 11.56m (37'11.25") to take fifth place.
  • The Crimson's time on the track ended with the women's 4x440y relay, as senior and team captain Jacklynn Okereke, Belibi, Dennis, and sophomore Kaelin Creagh combined for a time of 3:48.14 to earn the win. Creagh pushed the Crimson to win, utilizing a final split of 56.01 to lift Harvard to first place.
  • Harvard's weekend ended with the women's pole vault, as junior Lilly Hodge finished in second place after clearing 4.05m (13'3.5").
TERRIER CLASSIC HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Crimson wasted no time putting up strong results on the final day of action at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, as sophomore Hudson Allain finished in fifth in the men's 400m invite with a time of 47.34. A native of Brentwood, Tennessee, Allain's mark ranks fourth all-time in school history.
  • After taking second in the 500m at the Harvard Invitational yesterday, first-year Preston Ellis ran the 800m open at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, finishing in 38th place with a Crimson career-best time of 1:54.88.
  • Junior Amari Turner orchestrated a sensational performance in the men's 200m invite, taking second place with a time of 21.16. A native of Sanford, Florida, Turner now ranks second all-time in school history in the men's 200m.
  • Three Crimson shined in the men's 1000m. First-year Grant Schroder led the way, finishing in third place with a time of 2:22.93, a mark that ranks fourth all-time in program history. Fellow classmate Arashi Hunter took 20th with a time of 2:27.70, as first-year Levi Harrison rounded it out with a 31st place finish with a time of 2:30.80.
  • The day concluded with the men's 3000m, as first-year Brady Mullen finished in 76th place with a time of 8:18.49.
