CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Volleyball opens the 2025 season this weekend at a three-match tournament hosted by UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, California.
The Crimson will begin their campaign on Thursday, January 8, facing UC Irvine at 7:30 p.m. ET. Harvard continues tournament play on Friday, January 9, taking on CSUN at 5:00 p.m. ET, before closing the weekend against host UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, January 10, at 10:00 p.m. ET. All matches will be played at the Rob Gym and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Harvard concluded the 2024 season with a 9–15 overall record, including a 5–7 mark in conference play.

The Crimson welcomed five first-year additions, including outside hitters Julian Hong and Ben Vaught, middle blocker Oliver Doty, and setters Kai Gan and Eric Su, with Su also contributing as a libero.

Harvard enters the season after several notable victories last year, including a win over No. 17 Penn State and a two-game shutout against Sacred Heart.

Defensively, senior Brian Thomas led the team with 0.94 blocks per set, ranking seventh best in the EIVA

On the offensive end, sophomore Sawyer Nichols averaged 3.01 points per set, while senior Zach Berty contributed 2.7 points per set.

Thomas Phung ranked No. 3 in the EIVA for total digs per set at an average of 1.93.

This season will mark Brian Baise's 18th season as head coach for Harvard.Â
