CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field closed out the penultimate weekend of the indoor regular season in style, as five different Crimson set top 10 all-time program marks on the final day of competition at the Crimson Open and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
CRIMSON OPEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Zane Wallace made his season debut in the men's long jump, as the Dallas, Texas native finished in 10th place with a jump of 6.32m (20'9").
- For the fourth time this season, first-year Daniel Ye reset his season-best in the men's weight throw, finishing in fourth place with a throw of 18.71m (61'4.75").
- Junior Simon Weiser enjoyed a career-day in the men's 60 hurdles, finishing in fifth place with a personal-best 8.00. A of Prague, Czech Republic native, Weiser now ranks fourth all-time in school history in the men's 60 hurdles.
- Two Crimson competed in the men's 60m, as junior Timi Esan led the way, taking third place with a time of 6.73. Sophomore Camren Ware ran a 6.96 to finish in 14th place.
- The men's 3000m saw first-year Eamon Gordon finish in 20th place, running the race in 8:50.78.
- Back in the field events, first-year Joachim Johnson captured second place with a jump of 14.92m (48'11.5"). Johnson returned to action for the men's high jump, finishing in fourth place after clearing 1.98m (6'6").
- The men's shot put saw junior Isaac Delaney capture fourth place after reaching 16.60m (54'5.5") on his first attempt.
- First-year Grant Schroder was the Crimson's lone runner in the men's 800m, as the Downers Grove, Illinois native finished in 11th place with a time of 1:52.70.
- In the men's 500m, first-year Preston Ellis took fourth place after clocking a 1:04.39, as sophomore Brayden Chavez ran a 1:07.34 to finish in seventh.
- Harvard's time on the track at the Crimson Open ended with the men's mile. Junior Owen Bosley finished in 12th with a time of 4:13.73, a new personal-best for the Thiensville, Wisconsin native. Fellow classmate Ethan Aidam also ran a personal-best, finishing in 15th place with a mark of 4:15.01.
- Along with Johnson, four other Crimson participated in the men's high jump as well. Senior Daire Mahon, first-year Yannick Kraus and senior Chris Ruano all cleared 1.93m (6'4") to finish in eighth and ninth place, while first-year Demetris Tzoannos took 12th after leaping over 1.88m (6'2").
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- The final day of action from the David Hemery Valentine Invitational started with the women's 400m invite. Sophomore Kaelin Creagh finished in 28th place with a time of 56.50, while senior and team captain Jacklynn Okereke posted a 56.58 to finish in 29th place.
- A major moment arrived for sophomore Ella Cooper in the women's 200m, as the Owings Mills, Maryland won the event with a time of 23.36. Cooper's time is the new lead in the Ivy League this season, as that mark also ranks second all-time in conference and Harvard history.
- Three more Crimson competed in the women's 200m invite as well. Junior Mickaila Haisley finished in 10th place with a personal-best 24.23, as sophomore Abigail Dennis followed up a strong day in the women's 60 hurdles at the Crimson Open yesterday by finishing in 14th place with a personal-best 24.42. Senior Mfoniso Andrew, one of Harvard's team captains this season, ran a 24.70 to finish in 20th.
- Sophomore Saige Forbes took second place in the women's 200m open, crossing the finish line in 24.73.
- The women's 4x400m relay team of junior Marta Amani, Dennis, Creagh and Forbes finished in third place with a time of 3:40.34.
- In the women's mile open, sophomore Abigail Sadler led the way for the Crimson in 88th place, finishing with a time of 4:54.85. First-year Callie Wallace also took a spot within the top 100, running a 4:55.14 to take 91st place. Senior and cross country team captain Lily O'Donoghue-McDonald ended the race in 125th place after recording a 4:58.83.
- Junior Sophia Gorriaran became just the second student-athlete in program history to run a sub-4:30.00 in the women's mile, as the Providence, Rhode Island native finished in 12th in the women's mile invite with a time of 4:29.53. That mark ranks second in school and Ivy League history. First-year Dylan McElhinney also featured in the invite section of the women's mile, taking 45th with a time of 4:42.28, a time that ranks eighth in school history.
- Harvard's weekend ended with the women's 3000m, as senior Molly Malague took 11th place with a time of 9:09.57, a time that ranks third in school history. Malague's mark at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational ranks second in the Ivy League this year. Sophomore Zara Geddes finished in 195th place with a time of 10:17.15, while senior Abby Weber returned to the track to finish in 197th place with a time of 10:17.56.
