PRINCETON, N.J. – After a successful weekend down south in South Carolina, two Harvard softball student-athletes earn Ivy League weekly awards. Junior pitcher
Nicolette Hunter is the conference's Pitcher of the Week, while first-year outfielder
Sheila Forbes is the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Hunter is the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career. In the circle, Hunter dominated the opposition in the Palmetto State, posting a perfect 0.00 earned run average across a team-high 12.2 innings, striking out 19 batters while only conceding two walks in three appearances. An All-Ivy League Second Team selection in 2025, Hunter enjoyed a career-day in Harvard's 9-0 run-rule win against Holy Cross, tossing a five-inning complete game shutout with a career-high 10 strikeouts.
At the plate, Hunter also made an impact, posting a .400 batting average with two hits, as Hunter also scored three runs on the base paths.
Once again, Forbes shined at the plate and in the field for the Crimson, taking Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in her career. A native of Naples, Florida, Forbes led all Crimson in the Palmetto State with a.538 batting average, collecting seven hits and scoring three runs in the process.
After nine contests, Forbes is one of Harvard's leaders offensively. In seven appearances, Forbes leads the Crimson in batting average (.588), OPS (1.220) and on-base percentage (.632). With 10 hits, Forbes is one of three Crimson with double-digit hits this season.
Harvard ends its tournament slate this weekend, heading to Miami, Florida to compete in the FIU Classic from Friday, Feb. 27 to Sunday, Mar. 1.
