Men’s Swimming and Diving Jumps to Third at Ivy League Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving jumped two spots in the team standings to finish Day 2 of the Ivy League Championships in third place. The Crimson set a new program record in the 500 free and recorded several top-four finishes en route to 376.50 points.

Harvard sits behind Princeton (541) and Yale (459.50) and ahead of Brown (305), Columbia (305), Cornell (281), Dartmouth (226), and Penn (196).

Prelims Highlights:
  • William Mulgrew highlighted the Crimson in the 500 free prelims, finishing first in Heat 5 with a time of 4:16.53, which also placed him in the A-final. Pablo Martinez touched third in the same heat at 4:19.96, a season best, qualifying for the B-final.
  • Adriano Arioti secured a spot in the 200 IM A-final, finishing runner-up in the final heat of prelims and posting a season-best 1:44.64. Felipe Baffico (1:47.62) and Eric Lee (1:47.48) both recorded season bests to qualify for the B-final.
  • Sonny Wang recorded the second-best time in the 50 free prelims with a season-best 19.22, securing an A-final spot. Maro Miknic also qualified for the A-final with a time of 19.36. Will Browne recorded a 19.85 and Marre Gattnar clocked a 19.65, both season bests, to earn spots in the B-final. Evan Croley (19.97) and Oliver Pilkinton (20.01) also recorded season bests to qualify for the C-final.
  • In the one-meter diving B-final, Rem Turatbekov led Harvard, tallying 297.05 points to finish in third place. Denny Gulia-Janovski followed in fourth with 290.55 points, and Chase Shipp (262.70 pts.) placed ninth.
Finals Highlights:
  • Mulgrew broke the Harvard program record with a runner-up finish in the 500 free, recording a 4:12.03. The time surpassed the previous mark of 4:13.34, held by Brennan Novak '19 since 2018. Martinez finished second in the B-final with a time of 4:20.50.
  • In the 200 IM, Arioti recorded another season best (1:43.11) to finish fourth. In the C-final, Lee (1:47.42) placed third and Baffico (1:47.53) finished sixth, with both posting season bests.
  • Wang finished third in the 50 free, lowering his morning season best to 19.21, while Miknic (19.38) placed fifth. In the B-final, Gattnar (19.56) was the runner-up and Browne (19.82) tied for sixth. Croley won the C-final with a season-best 19.94, and Pilkinton (20.12) finished sixth.
  • The Crimson closed out the evening on the podium, placing third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:16.73. The quartet of Miknic, Gattnar, Croley, and Wang broke the DeNunzio Pool record (1:17.40) and finished just behind runner-up Yale (1:16.41) and winner Princeton (1:16.03).
