CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard softball is Empire State bound this weekend, as the Crimson take on Army and St. John's in a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday, Mar. 14 and Sunday, Mar. 15 at Red Storm Field in Queens, N.Y.
The weekend starts with a 1:00 p.m. contest against Army, as the Crimson close out Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. meeting against St. John's. A 10:30 a.m. rematch against the Red Storm starts the Crimson's Sunday, as Harvard squares off against the Black Knights at 1:00 p.m. in the weekend finale. Harvard fans can stream both contests against St. John's live on ESPN+.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Harvard travels to New York with a 6-7-1 record, as the Crimson's last appearance on the diamond saw it earn a 4-0 win against Fordham and then end the week with a 9-9 tie against South Dakota at the FIU Classic in Miami, Florida.
- During its time in South Beach, the Crimson offense was once again superb, tallying 28 runs and posting a team batting average of .326 with 13 extra base hits. First-year infielder Hannah Ziecik led all Crimson at the FIU Classic in batting average (.583), RBIs (7) and slugging percentage (.833).
- Once again, junior pitcher Nicolette Hunter was stellar in the circle, as the Camarillo, California native posted a 1.53 earned run average across a team-high 18.1 innings, collecting 12 strikeouts and only walking four batters in the process.
- For the first time this season, Ziecik earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week, while Hunter took Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors in consecutive weeks for the first time in her collegiate career.
- Harvard is one of three teams in the Ivy League with a team batting average above .300 this season, as the Crimson also rank second in the Ivy League in both runs scored (66) and hits (111).
- The Crimson's 2.53 team ERA leads the Ancient Eight this season, as Harvard is the only Ivy League program with a team ERA below 4.00. Harvard also leads the conference in strikeouts with 74.
- Harvard's team captains this season are senior pitcher Ryan Grace, junior outfielder Audrey Szollosi and junior infielder Megan Davies
- Head coach Jenny Rohn is in her third season at the helm of the Crimson's softball program, as Rohn owns a 59-37-1 record at Harvard and a 94-84-1 career record.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Army, the defending Patriot League regular season champions, is 8-12 to start the 2026 season. In its midweek outing against Fordham, the Black Knights dropped a 3-2 decision in West Point, New York.
- The 2025 BIG EAST regular season champion, St. John's owns a 15-8 record this year, as the Red Storm opened BIG EAST play last week by dropping two decisions against UConn.
SERIES HISTORY
- Harvard and Army will meet on the softball field for the first time since 1995, as the Crimson lead the all-time series, 2-1.
- The Crimson and St. John's meet on the diamond for the first time ever this Saturday.
LIGHTS OUT
- Harvard's pitching staff is once again in stellar form to start the 2026 season, as the Crimson's personnel is defined by their skill and depth.
- After 14 contests, Harvard leads the Ivy League with a 2.76 team ERA, as the Crimson is the only team in the Ivy League with an ERA below 4.00 this season. Harvard's 74 strikeouts also lead the Ancient Eight this year.
- Hunter, who won Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks earlier this season, ranks first in the conference with 34 strikeouts with just five walks. An All-Ivy League Second Team selection last season, Hunter's 1.34 ERA currently ranks second in the Ivy League as well.
- With an ERA of 1.15 across 18.1 innings pitched, Grace leads the conference in ERA, collecting 12 strikeouts in the process.
- Harvard is the only side in the Ivy League to have multiple pitchers with an ERA below 2.00 this season.
R.O.Y. FACTORY
- The last three Ivy League Rookies of the Year are all products of the Crimson, as Harvard is the first school in Ivy League history to produce three consecutive Rookie of the Year honorees.
- In 2025, sophomore utility Alexa Muller won Ivy League Rookie of the Year after shining at the plate, especially in conference play.
- Muller led all first-years last season in the Ancient Eight in batting average (.368) and hits (28). A native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Muller ranked third in batting average (.436) and second in on-base percentage (.515) in Ivy League contests last season.
- The 2024 season saw Sun orchestrate one of the greatest rookie seasons in recent memory, leading all first-years in the NCAA in slugging percentage (.797) and ranked third among all first-years in the nation in batting average (.421).
- Senior pitcher Riley Flynn was the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after setting a new program record for saves in a season with six, as the Phoenix, Arizona native was the 2023 Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player after tallying 11 innings in all three wins for the Crimson.
- To start the season, first-years Sheila Forbes and Ziecik have both won Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors. Forbes leads the Crimson with a .406 batting average, while Ziecik drove in a team-best seven runs at the FIU Classic.
HERE COMES THE SUN
- In her third season with the Crimson, Sun is one of the most explosive offensive talents in the Ivy League.
- Starting in all 14 games this season at shortstop, Sun owns a .318 batting average with 14 hits, as the Austin, Texas native leads the Crimson with two home runs and ranks second on the squad with 14 RBIs.
- The first student-athlete in conference history to win Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season, Sun ranked in the top five in the Ivy League in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.469), runs scored (33), hits (53) and total bases (81) during the 2025 season.
- A 2024 Top 10 Finalist for the Tucci/NFCA Freshman of the Year award, Sun is the current all-time program leader in career batting average (.402) and slugging percentage (.683).
- Sun ranked No. 98 in D1Softball's D100 Top 100 Mid-Major players, only one of three Ivy League student-athletes to receive the honor to start the season.

- Harvard softball is appointment viewing for Crimson fans, as the first inning is an eventful frame for the Crimson this season.
- The Crimson is outscoring its opponents, 19-13, in the first inning of action.

IVY LEAGUE EXCELLENCE
- Over the last five full seasons, Harvard is one of the top softball programs in the Ivy League, owning a league-best 90-36 record in conference play from 2018 to 2025.
