Tito Alofe owned the moment in the men's high jump at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships, as the Peachtree City, Georgia native is the Crimson's first ever NCAA national champion in the event.
A national contender in the men's high jump across the last three years, Alofe rose to occasion time and time again in his journey to the national title at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Alofe cleared the first three heights of 2.10m (6'10.75"), 2.15m (7'.5") and 2.18m (7'1.75") all on his second attempts. With only six competitors remaining at 2.21m (7'3"), Alofe made a statement, clearing the height on his first try to advance.
Only four student-athletes remained in the competition at 2.24m (7'4.25"), as Alofe cemented his spot atop the podium by becoming the first competitor to clear the height, doing so on his second attempt. In his march to the national title, Alofe never reached his third and final attempt at any of the five heights he cleared, as Alofe won the national title and reset his program record in the process.
Alofe is only the 10
th men's student-athlete in program history to win an NCAA national championship in indoor competition, as he and
Kenneth Ikeji '25 are the only men's indoor national champions since 2000. A two-time Ivy League champion in the men's outdoor high jump, Alofe is only the second student-athlete in Ivy League history to win the indoor men's high jump national title. Alofe is also the first NCAA indoor men's high jump national champion from the northeast region since 1984.
Along with Alofe's landmark showing in the men's high jump, fellow classmate
Sophia Gorriaran claimed All-America First Team honors for the second time in her Crimson tenure in the 800m, finishing in eighth place with a time of 2:03.02. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Gorriaran is now a six-time All-American across indoor and outdoor action, the most selections among active Crimson.
