Sailing Sweeps Weekend Action

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing emerged victorious from both of its regattas this past weekend – the Graham Hall Trophy Team Race and College of Charleston Women's Team Race. The Crimson has now won four races this spring and has won at least one regatta in each of the last three weekends.

Graham Hall Trophy Team Race | Annapolis, Md.

Harvard went 21-2 in The Old Line State to capture the regatta by three races, beating out runner-up Roger Williams, which went 18-5 across the weekend. The Crimson lineup featured Robby Meek-Jacob Posner, Mitchell Callahan-Aidan Pesce, and Justin Callahan, who saw time in the boat with Rosella Irfan, Christina Chen and Xavier Ayala-Vermont.

Day 1 saw Harvard win 13 of its 15 races and opened by securing victories in its first four outings. The Crimson momentum was temporarily halted by a loss to Navy, but it answered with six consecutive decisions before falling to RWU. Harvard ended its day by taking down Penn, Cornell and College of Charleston. Second-day action was a masterclass performance by the Crimson as it defeated CofC (1-2-3), Stanford (1-2-5), Navy (1-2-3) and Georgetown (1-2-4) in the Gold Round of 6, which secured Harvard a spot in the Final 4. The Crimson dominance continued against the field's best as it earned 1-2-5 wins over CofC and RWU before ending with a 1-3-4 showing against Georgetown. The Graham Hall victory was the program's second in the last three years as it was crowned champion in 2024.

College of Charleston Women's Team Race | Charleston, S.C.

The Crimson edged the hosts, College of Charleston, by one victory to win the regatta. Harvard completed the two-day event with a 14-2 mark, while the Cougars turned in a 13-3 record. Zoey Ziskind and Peyton Hadfield occupied the Crimson's top boat, while Kate Danielson-Amelie Zucker and Sophia Montgomery-JJ Drummond/Katherine Shin filled out the rest of Harvard's lineup.

The Crimson went 3-1 in Round 1, earning victories over Tulane (1-2-3), Charleston (1-2-6) and U.S. Coast Guard (1-3-4), but falling to Old Dominion (3-4-5). The second round, meanwhile, saw Harvard go a perfect 4-0 to end Saturday with a 7-1 record. Day 2 was a carbon copy of Saturday, results-wise, with the Crimson going 3-1 after wins over Tulane (1-2-4), ODU (1-3-6) and Coast Guard (1-2-3). The one misstep was against CofC (1-5-6). But similar to Saturday, Harvard finished on a high note, sweeping all four teams in Round 4 to finish with another cumulative 7-1 mark. College of Charleston, which also registered a 7-1 record on Sunday, fell short of the championship after it went 6-2 overall on Saturday.

Up Next

Harvard returns to action this weekend with a pair of local regattas. The Crimson will compete at the Tufts-hosted Duplin Trophy Women's Team Race and play host to the Friis Trophy Team Race.
