CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After being two of the driving forces in Harvard women's basketball's comeback win over Columbia in the season finale,
Karlee White and
Olivia Jones were named the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced today.
After struggling in the first half, White willed the Crimson to a 16-point comeback in the second half with 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Overall, the junior recorded 24 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists, and a block. White's point, rebound, and steal totals were all team-highs in the contest. This is White's second career weekly honor previously being named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on February 16.
Jones capped off a strong first-year campaign with her ninth weekly award. She is one of eight players in Ivy League history to win at least nine Rookie of the Week awards. She joins Harvard legends Allison Feaster '98 and Temi Fagbenle '15 as the only Crimson players to do so.
To earn the award this week, Jones tallied 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists against the Lions. The first-year committed zero turnovers while matching her career-high of 35 minutes played.
The Crimson will square off against the Lions again in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals this Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Ithaca, N.Y.
