CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field closed out the weekend on a high note, as two school records fell at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida today.
The men's 4x100m relay of junior
Timi Esan, senior
Jonas Clarke, sophomore
LeRoy Horton and junior
Amari Turner rose to the occasion against a stacked field in the Sunshine State, finishing in sixth place with a time of 39.27, unseating the previous top mark of 39.34 from last season. This time puts the Crimson at 11
th in the east region standing and atop the Ivy League this season.
Sophomore
Ella McRitchie authored a marquee moment in the women's pole vault in the Sunshine State, setting a new school record after clearing 4.40m (14'5.25"). A native of Bainbridge, Washington, McRitchie surpasses the former record of 4.32m set by
Anastasia Retsa '25 last season, as McRitchie now ranks sixth in the east region and is second in the Ivy League by a centimeter.
SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Two Crimson finished in the top 10 of the men's high jump. Senior Chris Ruano finished in seventh place after leaping over 1.88m (6'2"), as first-year Demetris Tzoannos cleared 1.83m (6'0") to finish in eighth place.
- Sophomore Kaelin Creagh ran a 56.41 to finish in second place in the women's 400m.
- Over in the men's side of the 400m, sophomore Brayden Chavez crossed the finish line in 51.43 to take 12th place.
- Senior Cam Henry was the Crimson's lone representative in the men's 100m, clocking a 10.87 to do so.
- A winning performance arrived in the men's 400m hurdles, as senior Ondrej Vesely stopped the clock at 53.32 to finish atop the podium.
TOM JONES MEMORIAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- A trio of Crimson competed in the women's discus throw. First-year Nadjela Wepiwe led the way, taking seventh place after throwing 50.40m (165'4"). Sophomore Tyler Glover recorded an attempt of 48.69m (159'9") to take 10th place, while senior Michaela Denson finished in 15th place with a throw of 46.71m (153'3").
- The men's 110m hurdles saw junior Simon Weiser stop the clock at 14.23 to finish in second place.
- Sophomore LeRoy Horton made his season debut in the 100m, running a 10.73 to finish in 15th place.
- On the women's side of the 100m, sophomore Ella Cooper ran a 11.70 to take 10th place while fellow classmate Saige Forbes finished in 13th place with a time of 11.74.
- Junior Marta Amani ran a 54.11 to finish in 17th place in the women's 400m.
- The men's 400m saw sophomore Hudson Allain match his personal-best of 47.03 to finish in 20th place.
- Senior Justin Levy captured first place in the men's 800m with a time of 1:52.89, while first-year Preston Ellis ended his race in 1:53.44 to finish in fourth place. First-year Hudson McGough rounded out the Crimson's showing in the event, taking seventh place with a time of 1:53.70.
- First-year Joachim Johnson finished in 10th place with a leap of 14.51m (47'2.25") in the men's triple jump.
- In the women's 100m hurdles, sophomore Abigail Dennis ran a 13.54 to take 23rd place.
- First-year Jillene Wetteland orchestrated a top 10 showing in the women's high jump after clearing 1.66m (5'5.25").
- The women's discus throw invite section saw junior and two-time All-American Milina Wepiwe finished in sixth place with a throw of 55.83m (183'2").
- Junior Isaac Delaney finished in fifth place with a throw of 17.17m (56'4").
- Two Crimson took part in the men's 100m invite, as junior Timi Esan sprinted a 10.22 to finish in 16th place, while senior Jonas Clarke ended the race in 22nd place with a time of 10.34.
- Sophomore Tyler Glover hit a new personal-best in the women's shot put, taking second place with a throw of 16.06m (52'8.25"). That mark ranks third all-time in school history.
- The Crimson's women's 4x400m relay team of Amani, senior Mfoniso Andrew, Dennis and Cooper combined for a time of 3:37.08 to take 18th place.
- On the men's side of the 4x400m relay, first-year Arpad Kovacs, sophomore Harlow Tong, Allain and Turner finished in fifth place with a time of 3:05.68. That time ranks second in school history.
