ATHENS, Ga. – Harvard men's golf sophomore
Barry Zhang continued to roll on day two of the NCAA Regional today, carding a four-under par round of 67 to move into the top 10 individually. The 2026 Ivy League Medalist, Zhang is within reach of the individual leader heading into the final round of the tournament tomorrow (May 20). As a team, the Crimson dropped three strokes off its score from round one, coming in with a total of 281 (-3) on the day.
William Ma posted a score of 69 (-2) while
Ieuan Jones and
Morgan Riley came in with scores of 72 (+1) and 73 (+3), respectively, to contribute to the team scoring.
Zhang caught fire early on day two, carding a birdie on the first and seventh holes to eventually make the turn with a score of 33 (-2). On the back nine, the sophomore recorded three consecutive birdies to rise up the leaderboard and into the top 10. Despite suffering a bogey on the 18
th hole – just his second of the tournament – Zhang finished the round with a score of 67 (-4) and tied for sixth individually.
William Ma continued his steady play on day two, coming out firing at UGA Golf Club. The sophomore captain posted three birdies on the opening five holes to help Harvard gain position in the standings. After carding two bogeys on the final three holes, Ma made the turn with a front nine score of 34 (-1). The California native responded with a bogey-free back nine that featured another birdie to complete day two at two-under-par with a score of 69.
Ieuan Jones and
Morgan Riley capped off the team scoring for Harvard with round of 72 (+1) and 73 (+2), respectively. Jones posted a front nine score of 37 (+2) before going bogey free on the back nine and dropping a stroke with a birdie on 18 to complete his round at one-over-par with a 72. Riley also had a strong closing stretch, posting two birdies to post a back nine score of 35 and finish at 73.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS
- Barry Zhang's score of 67 (-4) was the lowest of the tournament so far for Harvard.
- Zhang went bogey-free with five birdies until posting a bogey on the 18th hole.
- His score was tied for the sixth lowest in the field on day two.
- Currently with 26 pars in the tournament, Zhang ranks T5 in the field.
- Morgan Riley has been excellent on par threes at UGA Golf Club, with an average of 2.75 (-2) on the short holes. That clip in T3 individually.
- William Ma shot under par in the second round with a score of 69 (-2) to move into the top 30.
