CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --The Harvard men's water polo
team mustered the first two goals of the fourth quarter, but could
not complete its comeback attempt, falling to Iona, 14-11, in CWPA
Northern Division action Sunday at Blodgett Pool.
Bret Voith led Harvard scorers with three goals, while Egen
Atkinson and Alex Thompson netted two goals apiece in the
loss. Jeff Lee, Kevin DiSilvestro and Evan Zepfel added a
goal each. Between the pipes, Alexandre Popp stopped seven
shots by Iona players.
Harvard and Iona were tied, 7-7, early in the third quarter, but
the Gaels rattled off four straight tallies to grab an 11-7
advantage. The Crimson got within two scores, 12-10, at the
start of the fourth, but could not inch closer.
Harvard, which falls to 5-14 overall and 3-2 in Northern Division
action, closes out its regular season by hosting Fordham Saturday,
Oct. 17 and St. Francis (N.Y.) Sunday, Oct. 18.
