Crimson Falls to Two Ranked Opponents on Second Day of Claremont Convergence

LOS FLORES PARK, Calif. -- On the second and final day of the Claremont Convergence, the Harvard men's water polo team suffered a pair of defeats, dropping games to No. 14 Concordia and No. 20 Cal Baptist.

Harvard (4-12) fell behind to Concordia, 8-2, in the first half, but opened the second with a 4-0 run to pull within two scores.  However, the Crimson could not get any closer, falling, 11-6.  Egen Atkinson led Harvard's scoring attack with three goals, while Max Eliot tallied two scores.  Dan Furman made five steals and netted one goal.  In net, Alexandre Popp stopped eight shots in the loss.

Against Cal Baptist, Mike Katzer recorded a hat trick, while Eliot and Furman added a goal apeice.  Nikhil Balarman played most of the game in goal, making 11 saves.

The Crimson will now return home to begin a five-game stretch at Blodgett Pool.  Harvard, which stands in first-place tie in the Northern Division standings with a 2-0 conference record, hosts Connecticut College Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.
