Game On
Fresh off a five-game road swing to open the season, Harvard begins its 2009-10 home schedule by hosting ECAC Hockey opponents St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Crimson meets the Saints Friday at 7 p.m. and the Golden Knights 24 hours later.

Behind the Bench
Former Crimson captain, NCAA Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player and 13-year National Hockey League veteran Ted Donato '91 is in his sixth season as The Robert D. Ziff '88 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Ice Hockey. He owns an 83-71-18 record, three ECAC title-game appearances and two NCAA tournament bids.

Last Weekend
Harvard made a weekend trip to No. 20 Quinnipiac and No. 19 Princeton. Eric Lampe had a hat trick and the Bobcats scored twice on eight power plays to defeat the Crimson, 5-1, Friday night. Michael Biega (Montreal, Que.) scored for Harvard, but Quinnipiac then netted four unanswered goals.Kyle Richter (Calgary, Alta.) made 28 saves.

Biega scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation to complete a two-goal comeback for a 3-3 tie a night later at Princeton. Biega, brother Alex Biega (Montreal, Que.) and Doug Rogers (Watertown, Mass.) each registered a goal and an assist, while Richter made another 28 saves.
Road Warriors
Harvard's five-game stretch of road contests was its longest to open the season since beginning 1958-59 with six straight on the road. The next six games are now at home.

The Bright Stuff
The Crimson was 9-5-1 at home last season and is 53-20-2 at Bright Hockey Center under Ted Donato. Harvard has won four of its last five home openers.
Outside the Box
Harvard is the nation's ninth-least-penalized team, averaging just 11.2 penalty minutes per game.

In the National Stat Rankings
Alex Killorn (Montreal, Que.) and Louis Leblanc (Kirkland, Que.) lead Harvard with seven points each and are tied for 16th nationally with 1.4 points per game. Leblanc is the nation's second-ranked freshman scorer and is tied for seventh in Division I with one assist per game. Chris Huxley (Weymouth, Mass.) ranks eighth nationally among defensemen with one point per game.

League Leaders
Louis Leblanc (2-5-7) is ECAC Hockey's top freshman scorer in league games and is tied for fifth among all players, along with linemate Alex Killorn (3-4-7), in league scoring. Killorn is tied for sixth in ECAC goals. Chris Huxley (1-4-5) is tied for the league defenseman scoring lead, and Marshall Everson (Edina, Minn.) is tied for fourth in ECAC power-play goals with two.

Streakin'
Louis Leblanc has played in five collegiate games and has registered at least one point in each of them. Michael Biega has scored in two straight games, while Leblanc and Alex Killorn have assists in two straight.

Scouting the Saints
St. Lawrence opened ECAC Hockey play with a 5-2 win at Princeton but followed with losses to Quinnipiac and Union before getting back on track with a 2-1 home win Saturday against Rensselaer. The Saints are averaging 3.09 goals per game, led by Mike McKenzie and rookie Kyle Flanagan with 4-7-11 totals each in 11 games. Alex Petizian is the longtime starter in goal, but Kain Tisi backstopped the RPI win and has a team-best .938 save percentage and 1.16 goals-against average. Robby Moss has also seen time in goal.

Harvard vs. St. Lawrence in 2008-09
Matt McCollem (Westford, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game, with Alex Killorn assisting, as Harvard beat St. Lawrence, 1-0, Nov. 15, 2008 at Bright Hockey Center. Matt Hoyle '12-13 made 29 saves in the shutout.

In the Crimson's Feb. 20 visit to Canton, N.Y., Doug Rogers scored the game's first and last goals, both assisted by Michael Biega, in a 2-2 tie. Ryan Carroll (Hackensack, N.J.) made 37 saves, while the Saints' Alex Petizian had 27.

Harvard vs. St. Lawrence Series History
Ted Donato-coached Crimson teams have faced St. Lawrence more than any other opponent, with a 9-5-1 record against the Saints, including playoff-series wins in 2005 and 2006. Harvard holds a 50-36-6 all-time edge in the series. The teams first met Dec. 27, 1954, a 3-2 overtime win by Harvard. The Crimson defeated the Saints again later that season, 6-3, in the consolation game of Harvard's first NCAA tournament. The Crimson also posted a 6-3 win against the Saints in the championship game of the 1987 ECAC tournament.

Scouting the Golden Knights
Clarkson has lost six straight games, two at Minnesota Duluth and four straight to start the ECAC Hockey season, most recently a 5-1 home loss to Union Saturday. The Golden Knights are averaging 2.36 goals per game and allowing 3.91. Louke Oakley paces the squad with 11 points and 10 assists, while Matt Beca has scored a team-high six goals. Paul Karpowich has started seven games in goal to Richie LaVeau's four, but LaVeau has better numbers, a .908 save percentage and 3.15 goals-against average.

Harvard vs. Clarkson in 2008-09
The Crimson jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead en route to a 5-1 home win against the Golden Knights Nov. 19, 2008. Nick Coskren '09 scored twice and current players Michael Del Mauro (Watchung, N.J.) and Matt McCollem also had goals.

The Feb. 21 rematch in Potsdam, N.Y., was a 3-3 tie. Doug Rogers, Alex Killorn and Chris Huxley had Harvard's goals, while Matt Beca struck twice for Clarkson.

Harvard vs. Clarkson Series History
The Golden Knights hold a 48-45-10 series lead since the teams' first meeting, a 2-1 Clarkson win in 1935, and are one of just two ECAC teams with a winning all-time record against the Crimson. Despite going without a win against Harvard last season, Clarkson has won six of the last eight series games. Harvard had lost just twice in the previous 12 matchups.

Harvard beat Clarkson in the 1971 and 2004 ECAC finals, and the Golden Knights downed the Crimson in the 1957 and '58 NCAA consolation games. Clarkson swept a pair of close games from Harvard in the 2007 ECAC quarterfinals.
