CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—St. Lawrence scored twice on the power play and got 42 saves from Alex Petizian to hold off the Harvard men's hockey team, 3-2, in front of a sellout crowd in the Crimson's home opener Friday night at Bright Hockey Center. Harvard held a 44-28 edge in shots and got power-play goals from Michael Biega and Alex Killorn.

The Crimson (1-4-1, 1-4-1 ECAC Hockey) committed four first-period penalties, and the Saints (7-4-1, 3-2-0) took advantage to grab the lead. Harvard survived a 53-second two-man disadvantage, but St. Lawrence connected on its next power play, with George Hughes scoring from the left point. Harvard got a late power play, but Petizian held strong, stoning Biega twice to help his team take a 1-0 lead to the locker room despite a 12-10 shots advantage for Harvard.

Biega converted on a power play at 8:33 of the second to score for the third straight game and tie the score at 1-1. After Alex Fallstrom passed across the point to Chris Huxley and Huxley sent the puck to Biega near the right faceoff dot, Biega waited for an opening and then beat Petizian with a wrist shot. Travis Vermuelen gave the lead back to the Saints less than four minutes later with a power-play tally of his own. He had a goal and an assist, and St. Lawrence finished 2 for 5 with the man advantage.

The Saints withstood a barrage of Harvard shots from there, as Harvard held an 18-7 edge in second-period shots. After a Fallstrom shot hit the post, the Crimson got the puck over the goal line but not before the play was ruled dead for the puck being under Petizian.

SLU defenseman Pete Child put St. Lawrence up by a pair with the only even-strength goal of the night at 4:09 of the third period. Alex Curran won a faceoff back to Child for his second assist of the game. Petizian, meanwhile, continued to frustrate Harvard, making consecutive diving stops on Louis Leblanc and Killorn on a rush.

At the 8:35 mark, Killorn got the Crimson back within a goal, burying the rebound of an Alex Biega shot following a point-to-point pass by Conor Morrison. Harvard went 2 for 6 on the power play to match its highest man-advantage output of the season. The Crimson continued to apply pressure but could not break through the rest of the way. Harvard outshot St. Lawrence, 14-11, in the final frame.
