John Farinacci '23 Makes NHL Debut with Boston Bruins

BOSTON, Mass. – John Farinacci '23 made his NHL debut tonight with the Boston Bruins, becoming the 45th Crimson to skate in an NHL game.

Following Ian Moore, who debuted earlier this week with the Anaheim Ducks, Farinacci becomes the eighth Crimson from the 2022 ECAC Championship team to play in the NHL, joining Moore, Matt Coronato, Alex Laferriere, Sean Farrell, Henry Thrun, Marshall Rifai, and Nick Abruzzese.

A native of Red Bank, N.J., Farinacci finished his Harvard career with 23 goals, 36 assists, and 59 points in 78 games. He went on to sign with the Boston Bruins in free agency after graduating in 2023.

Named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team in his first season in Cambridge, Farinacci recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in 31 games. Returning in 2021-22, the junior was one of the team's top goal scorers, adding another 10 goals and nine assists in 29 games. Throughout his junior season, Farinacci recorded seven multi-point games and scored a team-high four game-winning goals. He also notched four points in the Crimson's quarterfinal matchup against RPI during the program's ECAC championship run.

After missing time due to injury as a senior, Farinacci registered 20 points on five goals and 15 assists in 19 total games. In his return to the lineup, the captain tallied four points in his first two games back.

In 2020-21, the New Jersey native represented the United States at the World Junior Championships in Edmonton. Farinacci scored five goals and added two assists in seven games, helping earn the first gold medal for the United States since 2017.

Farinacci was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2019 NHL Draft (3rd Round, 76th Overall) before becoming a free agent this offseason and signing with the Bruin
