WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The second-ranked Harvard
women's squash team improved to 2-0 on the young season, as the
Crimson defeated No. 8 Williams, 9-0, in a road contest Sunday
afternoon. Harvard won all 27 games played on the day,
sweeping each match, 3-0.
At the No. 1 slot, Laura Gemmell, ranked No. 4 in the CSA
preseason poll, downed third-ranked Toby Eyre 11-6, 11-7 and 11-8
to take the match in three games. Nirasha Guruge picked up a
3-0 win at the No. 2, topping Jennifer Coxe 11-6, 11-4 and
11-6. At the No. 3 position, June Tiong handed Courtney Bogle
a 3-0 loss, as Tiong won 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 in straight games.
Alisha Mashruwala continued Harvard's perfect run, winning 11-3,
11-6, 11-1 at the No. 4 spot against Alli Rubin. Rookie
Natasha Kingshott won 11-2, 11-4, 11-9 at the No. 5 in her match
against Laura Henry, while co-captain Katherine O'Donnell swept at
the No. 6 (11-6, 11-4, 11-3). Harvard also took matches 7-9,
as Sarah Mumanachit earned a 3-0 win against Hannah Kaemmer at the
No. 7 position, (11-4, 11-5, 11-3), co-captain Johanna Snyder beat
Julia Reiser at the No. 8 (11-47 11-1, 11-3) and Emily Park took
down Carolyn Kaemmer at the No. 9 spot (11-4, 11-1, 11-1).
Harvard, which stands at 1-0 in the Ivy League, visits Dartmouth
Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.
