PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown's pitching staff kept Harvard in check Sunday as the Bears swept a key Ivy League doubleheader from the Crimson by scores of 3-1 and 8-1.

The losses, coupled with Dartmouth's sweep of Yale, eliminated the Crimson from divisional contention and kept Brown's hopes alive with the Big Green (14-2) leading by two games with four to play over the Bears (12-4). Harvard slips to the .500 mark in league play following the weekend losses (8-8).

In Sunday's first game, Brown scored all three runs against Harvard starter Dan Zailskas in the second inning with a leadoff walk hurting the Crimson starter. A sacrifice fly, RBI single and a throwing error plated the runs.

Harvard scored its only run in the fourth when Taylor Meehan doubled to eight with one out and scored on a single from Tom Stack-Babich. Harvard threatened in the sixth by putting two runners on with one out but Matt Kimball came out of the bullpen and got a pair of outs to end the threat en route to his ninth save of the season.

Meehan finished the game with two hits for the Crimson.

In the second game, Stack-Babich delivered a first inning RBI single to score Dillon O'Neill (walk) and Brown answered in the fourth as a leadoff walk led the way for Dan Shapiro to deliver a two-out RBI single. A throwing error in the fifth gave the Bears a 2-1 lead and the home side opened the game with five runs in the sixth inning against Conner Hulse. The bottom of the order did the damage with Ryan Zrenda sending a two-run single up the middle and Tyler Graham connecting for a two-run double to left.

Harvard returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. game against Boston College.
