CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Crimson women's squash team, ranked No. 1 in the nation, earned its second victory in as many days, topping sixth-ranked Stanford, 8-1, Sunday afternoon at the Barnaby Courts.

With the victory, Harvard improves to 6-0 and will host No. 3 Penn and No. 7 Princeton in key Ivy League home meets Feb. 6-7.

At the No. 1 position, Laura Gemmell, who was one of seven Harvard players to sweep their matches, defeated Katy Brewster in three straight games, 11-8, 11-3, 11-5.  June Tiong played Kerrie Sample at the No. 3 slot, and Tiong got the better of her opponent in a long five-game match.  Sample won the first two games, 13-11 and 11-8, but Tiong took the third game in overtime, 15-13.  In the fourth game, Tiong picked up an 11-7 win and clinched the match in the fifth game, 14-12, in overtime.

At the No. 4 spot, Alisha Mashruwala topped Cecilia Haig, 3-0 (12-10, 11-6, 11-5), while Natasha Kingshott made quick work of Samantha Buechner at the No. 5 position (12-10, 11-5, 11-6).  Katherine O'Donnell took down Kyla Sherwood at the No. 6 slot (14-12, 11-5, 11-6) and Johanna Snyder collected a 3-0 win against Aditi Maliwal at the No. 7 (11-5, 11-6, 17-15).  The Crimson also earned wins at the No. 8 slot by Sarah Mumanachit against Julie Koenig (11-2, 11-8, 11-8) and at No. 9, as Cece Cortes shut down Kathryn Corelli (11-9, 11-4, 11-9).
