CANTON, N.Y. – Senior Randi Griffin scored on a penalty shot with 25 seconds left in the game to help the Harvard women's hockey team complete a third-period comeback and seal a critical 2-1 win against St. Lawrence Friday at Appleton Arena. With the win, Katey Stone, the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Ice Hockey, tied the all-time Division I record for victories with the 337th win of her career.

Harvard improves to 18-6-4 overall and 13-6-2 in ECAC play while St. Lawrence slips to 14-12-7 overall and 10-8-3 in conference action. The win also pushes the Crimson into third place in ECAC standings with one regular-season game remaining, while the Saints fall to seventh in league standings.

The Crimson got on the board just past the midway point of the final period as freshman Jillian Dempsey scored her 10th goal of the season off junior Kate Buesser's team-leading 21st assist, tying the score at 1-1. With under a minute to play, St. Lawrence was called for a delay-of-game penalty resulting in a Harvard penalty shot and Griffin took full advantage, beating St. Lawrence goalie Maxie Weisz for the game-winner with 25 seconds to play.

Harvard earned its first power play of the game early in the second period but was unable to capitalize on the only man-up opportunity in the stanza. The Saints got on the board first late in the middle frame as Vanessa Emond netted an even-strength goal off an assist from Alley Bero at 18:58 to give the hosts a 1-0 edge after two.

An uneventful first period saw the Crimson kill two penalties, including its second penalty kill where it held the Saints without a shot on goal. Harvard finished the period with an 11-5 edge in shots.

The Crimson closes out the regular season with a crucial conference game at No. 6 Clarkson Saturday at 4 p.m.
